*sigh* And here we go as usual with the same old tired argument. Looked at your diary. 2350 calorie goal. Now try eating all that garbage on a deficit.

Doesn't change the fact that you can lose body fat not restricting your diet. I did eat this stuff on a deficit. 53 lbs lost and a went from 31% body fat to below 20%.

And you have a bangin bod, and an awesome diary full of awesome food. I'm choosing to follow you.

♡ Thank you. I just, more than anything, want people to understand that you don't need to cut or restrict the foods you enjoy. Moderation is key. I will admit my diary isn't always the best, but I'm human. I like tasty things. It's long term sustainability that makes or breaks the goal at hand and I choose to focus on macros and micros and not whether someone thinks the foods I eat are "junk".

I've lost 78 lbs reading forums and following the advice of folks like you. I'm not done yet but but so far I've lost 16" of my waist. So yeah, I'll follow you any day. :flowerforyou:
Super congratz on your weight loss, that's an incredible achievement.

I owe my success to the forums as well and the leaders of the ETP group for inspiration and a wonderful knowledge base. Without it, I would have been lost in the mystery that is the weight loss industry. Wondering why my raspberry ketones weren't cleansing my "trouble zones"

Pretty much from everyone I've talked to, this is the last spot for fat to leave for almost everyone...and yes, you can't target it :S
I'm in the same boat as you, everything is looking much better except the belly. Apparently, we just have to keep going, keep exercising, keep eating right, and soooometime we will start losing it.

you can't target fat loss from any particular location.

unless you go for lipo. that's an option too.

    ^agreed.

However, for me I just needed patience and a calorie deficit to get a flat stomach. I do think weight lifting is a good plan too, though for beautiful muscles and strong bones. Keeping our bones strong is especially important for women.

My stomach has shrunk and toned considerably from 4 months of clean eating and working out. Cutting processed foods and eating at a calorie deficit will def give you results. Also drink nothing but water & green tea (lots) and be patient. The results will come ! Good luck.

^ This is what I've heard from numerous sources and experienced individuals.

Sources like what? Women's Fitness Magazine and some friends who lost weight doing it and assume it's the only way? You don't have to restrict anything, unless you have a medical condition

*sigh* says the grown man eating 1200 calories.

Fair enough. Probably not the best week to look at my intake. I'm doing a crapload of exercize this week and it kills my appetite.

My stomach fat has gone away, too. From heavy lifting and a calorie deficit. You should see what I eat. I'm a clean eaters nightmare diary

How long did ittake you to see inches lost? I have been lifting and if anything I gained an inch

Quite awhile. I started at 170 lbs. I didn't see a significant difference until the last 15 lbs or so. Stomach fat is just where my body is genetically predisposed to lose from last. It was super frustrating. Calorie deficit is really the biggest factor in losing fat, lifting will help, yes, but without the deficit, it'll be a very slow process. The greatest thing about lifting is maintaining that lean mass as you lose, which is what leaves you leaner throughout weight loss.

Thx for the feedback. Did you notice any inches gained at first?

Just my little input: I've lost about 6 inches in my waist by doing core strengthening yoga, along with my cardio. It helps me to build core strength as well, assisting with my posture, balance, and back pain.

But I store most of my fat in my belly, so I'm bound to lose a lot there first lol

Disclaimer -Anyone who wants to criticize me on my diary feel free. I don't log a lot of stuff, just because. Some days I don't log, just because. But i do take plenty of pictures for my food porn.

How dare you eat what you like and still get super fit. HOW DARE YOU!

I don't think that was criticism but it was the best I could come up with.

I reached my goal but still had tummy fat that resisted all my best efforts..

I aim to lose a few more lbs to see if it will change my waist. If not than I will accept it and maintain

From past experience I know that once my body reaches a certain weight (around 80kg), that's the point where I start to lose belly fat. Until that point I can lose as much weight as I like, it's not going to make any visible change to those spare tyres. So as others have said, keep at it, at some point your body will get round to raiding those fat stores!

I agree with the general trend of this thread - you cant target particular areas of fat, the body decides where it will store and the stomach is one of the last areas to loose fat, its just the way we are made. Pity some people think that sniping at others is a productive use of their time.

Just one hopefully useful addition, If you have been quite overweight, and particularly if you are older, weight loss will result in baggy skin. This is because the skin has been stretched beyond its capacity to contract again. This can be mistaken for fat, but its not and will not respond to calorie deficit dieting.

I lost from back, sides, chest, arms, legs and hips long before I lost from the belly. I still have an inch or two of belly to go. It's the last to leave.

Use a measuring tape; you might be slowly losing and once-a-week measurements could be the motivation you need.

Do any of y'all know some good weightlifting routines I can do at home? I have two 5lbs dumb bells. I use them in Denise Austin work out videos. She has some strength training segments.

I'm going to start off with 5lbs is wayyyyyyyy too light for you.

New rules for lifting would be a good place to start, but you'd need more equipment or a gym. Maybe look at you are your own gym or convict conditioning for some solid body weight routines.

I'm also going to assume any thing Denise Austin does is mostly cardio based.
