Its time to get our ideas together for the Valentines Challenge.. Please share.. I need some help ladies and gents.. I want to get the ball rolling, before the ball drops.. haha.. :P

Any kind of ideas.. for Challenges.. Weekly.. Bi Weekly.. whatever.. Someone suggested the Buddy system..?? Whats everyone think?? and do you want to be matched with someone or random?? WE agreed on the name and poundage.. and thats it!0

I am thinking that some of us did not really do that well with the challenges...for whatever reason. How would partnering up work? Do you challenge each other? Or do you combine your losses and exercise together?
Perhaps those wonderful people who lost weight can give us the ooopmh we need. What did they do to stay focused through the holidays? What motivated them?
I need that inspiration again....I have fallen by the wayside...

I lost track last time because I had alot of crap happen in that time frame.. I was doing good then My dogs got sick, and issues with vehicles.. and stress of the holidays, along with work.. i know they are all excuses but I had far too much going on and I needed a break.. But I kept it going for everyone else..0

Yes April...you had a LOT going on...and through it all...you gave us challenges. Just know we are all here for each other,our successes and our not so good days. It is a lifestyle change...we didn't get this way overnight...we have many new things to learn. How to cope with everyday stress...how to fit our exercise in everyday...we will get there. I didn't have it in me this month...but I am ready to get back on the horse....0 -
I think that a buddy system could be interesting. I think it would be good as we would all be held accountable to someone else. I know that having a friend that goes to the gym and is in the process of losing weight as well has helped me be more accountable for what I am eating as well as the exercises.
This is just a thought to. We could do somewhat of a competition (just for fun of course) in the buddy system. I think that we would be more motivated to stay on track knowing that another person is depending on our weight loss as well plus we can keep each other motivated. The only problem with this is if someone drops out or quits responding to the posts. Like I said just a thought.0 -
I think it could be fun if we found a way to split the group in half for a little competition. Team A vs. Team B. At the end of the challenge, whichever team has lost the most amount (or percentage, if we want to do it that way), "wins".
Or, hmmmm random idea just popped into my head and I don't know if we have enough time to implement it, but maybe it could be an ongoing thing that would require honesty and consistency...what if we did a travelling icon thing? Like, AprilVal would start off with our stuffed (or flat, like a Flat Stanley) mascot (let's call him Cupid). She'd take pictures of Cupid around her hometown, enjoying MFP, drinking his water and working out, and post them in here for all of us to enjoy. Then, the most successful person of the week is the next to receive Cupid, and is who April will mail him to. If we did a flat/paper version, we could even have the last person who had him sign and date him, noting their success on him. And I'm thinking it would be cheaper to send him around, too.
It would be really need to see our Flat Cupid go around the world.

Nice idea Pinky....I was trying to think of something like that but my mind wasn't cooperating after work. I think competition does get the juices flowing...everyone wants to win!0

I LOVE the ideas everyone is coming up with. I have to say I liked the before/after pictures from the last challenge, and it helped me to stay motivated. It was something physical that I could look at and see progress. I think seeing my own progress is one of the most motivating things.
We could also make it a challenge to share a picture of us excercising or something along those lines... anything to help keep the motivation going, and help keep us accountable. Just a thought.0 -
I originally planned on doing the challenge thread tonight but I feel like hell... I have to work the next two days.. blah.. I feel like dying right now. Gonna take a shower and take it easy for the night.. So ill get it together asap... unless someone else wants to try to do it.. lol0

I love all these new ideas.The pictures involved are hard for me-I have to get a cable thingy so I can update ..blah blah and now a battery.
I am in somewhat of a downer mood-I have 3 different weights.my newer dig scale 301 my older basic scale 321 and the doc..OMg..331...I can't get my head all wrapped around it ..I know I need to just pick ONE.rant over.

What if we do a Heart Healthy challenge every week, in honor of Valentines Day?
Eat all whole grain carbs this week. No white break/pasta/rice, etc...
Eat Fish at least twice this week (or some other LF protein, if adverse to fish), and start taking Omega 3's
Look at last week's Saturated Fats, and cut it in half this week, and limit cholesterol to 300mg a day
Increase your cardio 5 minutes everyday this week.
Look at last week's sodium intake, and cut it by 1/3.
Add is one more serving of Fruits and Veggies (leafy greens!) to your diet eat day this week.
Create a menu for your meals this week ahead of time, all containing heart healthy ingredients.
Make time for breakfast. Eat breakfast everyday.
