Today, I will eat all the things

I've been good all week so that I could be bad today. My beloved and I are going to a festival, where I'm sure there will be tons of yummy foods, and I plan to eat them all (or at least a reasonably nice sampling)!!
What do you guys normally do for occasions like this? Do you save up calories and then blow your caloric load in a free-for-all? Do you gird your loins and tastebuds with iron will and just say no? Split everything with a friend, half the gluttony and all of the joy?
Do you...track it? O.o

If I were you, I'd eat all the things. But I would eat very small portions of the things. I probably wouldn't worry with tracking. Just be sure you're good the rest of the week.0

I say track it.0

I would! Track it, but don't let yourself feel guilty, just roll with it.0

I would track it, but wouldn't really bother moderating.
It's one day and life is too short...0 -
CALORIES THAT DON'T COUNT
Retrieved from: http://kcbx.net/~tellswor/calories.htm
". . . FOOD ON FOOT: All food eaten while standing has no calories. Exactly why is not clear, but the current theory relates to gravity. The calories apparently bypass the stomach flowing directly down the legs and through the soles of the feet into the floor, like electricity. Walking seems to accelerate this process, so that a frozen custard or hot dog eaten at a carnival actually has a calorie deficit. . .
LEFT-HANDED FOOD: If you have a drink in your right hand, anything eaten with the other hand has no calories. Several principles are at work here. First of all, you're probably standing up at a cocktail party (see "Food on Foot"). Then there's the electronic field: a wet glass in one hand forms a negative charge to reverse the polarity of the calories attracted to the other hand. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it's reversible if you're left-handed. . .
FOOD ON TOOTHPICKS: Sausages, cocktail franks, cheese and the like are all fattening unless impaled on frilled toothpicks. The insertion of a sharp object allows the calories to leak out the bottom. . ."
I add things like cake crumbs and funnel cakes to the list . . .
Hope you have a wonderful (calorie free) time at the festival!! :drinker:0 -
I eat 2x+ my intake every Saturday. I track every last thing to the best of my ability.
Sometimes I share. Sometimes I don't. Track it so you don't get surprised by a weight gain or non-loss.0 -
I only do a "blow out" every once in a while….but I still try to log it to the best of my ability ..
Typically though, If I have a cheat day I try to maintain my calorie deficit or at the least not go over maintenance…
I mean do you really want to eat 2000 calories over maintenance and wipe out your deficit for the week ….
sometimes you can bank calories during the week for said occasion ..I know now that it is beach season I try to have some lower calorie days during the week so that I can fit my beer and eating out saturday beach day in ….0 -
Just enjoy. One day won't ruin all your work. I've also found that after eating really well on the regular, I have MUCH less capacity for "junk" food than I think I do. So I can go in full tilt but find I"m full and satisfied long before eating all the things I planned to. Have fun!!0

Enjoy the foods you don't normally eat! But I would also like to add a reminder to stay hydrated.0

I actually wasn't nearly as bad as I thought I would be. I did have ice cream, but I split lunch with my awesome boyfriend (amazing smoked pork on ciabatta with rosemary potatoes!) and I still have calories left for dinner. I even stopped by the grocery store on the way home and gave myself permission to get one totally crap thing, and after debating a huge cupcake with tons of icing, I ended up getting vitatops because they're yummy. Now I'm going to go make a giant ham sammy.0

Sometimes I have days like this where I let go. They're fun. There are a few varieties:
1. A day where I don't track but stay responsible. I just eat naturally and don't stress about calories and macros.
2. A day where I eat everything and track it out of curiosity so I know where I stand.
3. A day where I just say F--- it and eat everything without tracking. Works ok during a bulk, I guess...
Option 3 sounds horrible, but I feel pretty good knowing that I keep close tabs on things the rest of the time. And I used to never track or give a crap, ever.0 -

I would like to say that I eat responsibly but no - I usually over eat by a mile if I go out. It isn't that I deny myself things I like I just have big problems with portion control and stopping. I manage it wonderfully for breakfast, lunch, snack, and am getting better at 5pm and after. Days out or special occasions - I have not mastered that yet. I log it as close as I can or just completely guess if I must but I do log.
Glad you had a good time0 -
I just eat the foods and track it lol. I already eat at a deficit, so one day of going over isn't a big deal for me.0

Free for all. I don't eat junk on a daily basis so any occasion I decide to go off plan I indulge in whatever I want -- which is a whole lot less now than it used to be so the damage usually isn't that bad. Even if it was I wouldn't care. A diet isn't a good reason not to celebrate and enjoy special events, IMO. It probably works for me because those occasions are few and far between.0
