Third shift food issues

I'm in the last hour and half of my shift at work, third shift desk clerk at a hotel, and I am struck with the munchies. I just ate my dinner, which was very healthy, had a little bit of protein, and lots of veggies. So why do I have the munchies? Boredom? Who knows, but I thought I would blog a bit to help keep myself busy and not think about food. I have no idea if anyone reads these but if someone is, do you have the same problem? And if so, how do you stop yourself from doing so? Monday mornings are really going to be hard to figure out. I only work third shift Friday sat, and sunday, however when I get off work Monday morning, I don't go home to sleep, I go to school and right away I feel like I am starving. But I had just eaten "dinner" not too long ago. Should I snack or waiting for "breakfast"? Not only that, but I don't stay up all Monday night, I stay awake most of Monday so that I can reset my sleep schedule for a normal week till thuresday night, were I stay up all night long in order to get ready for my shift Friday.... Ugh just thinking about it stresses me out, which makes me want to say **** it, eat whatever you want. Help!!!

Hi there! Might be boredom and it might be a little hunger too. I occasionally work overnight and two things save me: sparkling water, and usually a protein bar around 200 calories. I think you burn a little more energy working overnight that normally you wouldn't because you're sleeping, so it's okay to eat something but make it filling. Protein bar will do the trick. Just avoid the vending machines at all costs! Good luck!0

Page five helped me the most because it described the exact times as to when to eat the MAIN MEAL, the MIDNIGHT SNACK, the PICK UP MEAL and the MEAL BEFORE BREAKFAST. The entire document has many detailed pointers on shift workers in general0 -
