No Cardio

Hello, I'm a 40 year old with a unique weight control challenge. Due to a heart condition, I'm forbidden from doing any exercise! Yikes!! I've never really had a weight problem. If anything I was too thin most of my life. I was very physically active and ate anything I wanted. My theory was, If I liked it, I'd eat it and then work out more. I loved working out so much I became a fitness tech at a women's gym. Well, now all that has changed! I've gained 24 lbs in less than a year due to my medically necessary sedentary lifestyle. I'm still technically within the range of normal weight but if I continue at this pace, I won't be for long. According to my Dr. the only thing I can do to control my weight is to count calories. So that's why I'm here. To count calories. Wondering if anyone else has a similar situation.

Well I'm not in the same boat as you, but when it comes to using mfp to get your calories in check mfp has been a great tool. One thing I noticed was that following the macro % guidelines mfp sets may not work for everyone. So once you get your vapory consumption down, work on adjusting your macros to your body. For instance, to lose weight I adjust mine to: 45% protein, 35% carbs, and 20% fat.
  • Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind. I'm a bit of a carboholic...lol Sugar is my downfall! So that's going to be a huge challenge for me. But it's a challenge I'm determined to overcome.
