The Final Countdown

I've started this post two or three times but not until today have I had a real plan. Nothing like waiting until the last minute...lol! I began my lifestyle change on May 31st and I stuck to it faithfully until about August. While I didn't completely fall off the wagon...I continued to exercise 3-5 days a week... my eating started to slip. First this and then that, then stop tracking on the weekends, next miss a day or two during the week. The thing that makes me mad at myself is that I still have NOT learned how to eat. It hasn't killed me weight-wise...up 8/10ths of a lbs from my lowest but I have GAINED 1.25" back...that is my biggest disappointment. It was my doing, all those sugary treats...yes I am a sugaraholic. I can't have just one.
I've put together a VERY aggressive workout schedule (for me, old pro's would laugh at it...hahahaha) combining Turbo Fire, 30 Day Shred and Essentrics (little known program that lengthens the muscles while strengthening so you don't look bulky...love it for an easy workout). Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun are Turbo Fire Days, Mon, Wed, Fri are also Essentric days at lunch and Tues/Thurs are Turbo Fire HIIT workouts and 30 Day Shred.
Now my big challengs is the food....what to do??? My plan is to eat as clean as possible, stay away from sugary treats. I'd like to say I was going to definitely do South Beach or Atkins or any of the many I've tried in the past but I know I won't stick 100% to them because I'm human. I'm just going to take the good things I've learned for each of them and try to apply them to MY life. No one can do this but me. No one makes me stick bad food in my mouth but me. I can blame my work schedule, I can blame my husband for taking me to that place with great pizza or I can be real and blame myself if I make a bad choice and get back on the wagon with the next meal.
My MFP peeps have kept me here and kept me focused on the real prize. You are the best! I couldn't have lost the first 20 without you. Now to the last 10-15 lbs, to a healthier me and on to MAINTAINING.
I hope everyone has a blessed, prosperous and healthy New Year!!!!

I know your pain. I'm a sugar addict. I'm good as long as I stay away from it. One treat becomes a downward spiral. Like it has been over the holidays. I don't log the weekends. I'm slacking on my veggies and fruit again.
I'm still teaching my man about weighing food. He made venison BBQ with Kraft Honey BBQ sauce. I have no idea of the weight or the amount of sauce. I was able to weigh my portions but the sauce messes up my sugar intake.
My exercise has slipped. My eating has slipped. BUT today starts a new year and hopefully a new me. No more smoking so I can do more than 30 minutes exercise at one time.
1. Quit smoking
2. Exercise more
3. Be a runner - sort of - by summer. At least a jogger.
4. Cut out added sugar for good.
I'm not overweight but still would like to get down to a lower healthy range. Knowing I don't need to lose much makes it easy not to try so hard.

The slumps are hard to get threw, but don't give up. As for sugary treats, I started to ween myself with fruits and with sweet juicy things like cucumber. I know it doesn't sound as great, but if it quenches it helps me. One fav that I have is Bing cherries (if it wasn't for the price!!!). I have also kept in the back of my head fudge pops (very low in cal/sodium). When I make chili I really like topping off the meal with Yoplait key lime whip (of course in the freezer). They have other flavors that help like black forest fat free lite and cherry cheesecake to name a few. I am not really being bad, but my taste buds are enjoying the treat and in return when I do eat a "real" sweet it coats my mouth in a way I do not like. When my son was a toddler the doctor warned me about getting him hooked on tart things like lemons. It is the first step to craving sweets he said. It took me 11 years to think about that and try reversing that. If you could get hooked into sweets why not get hooked into tart or just plain juicy? I guess something is working since I do not crave it like I used to. Good Luck and Keep your head up!0

Cheering you on friend. I pray that you will retrain your heart and tastebuds so that you can break the need for high sugar foods. It can be done.....I've managed to do it. you CAN do this.
Cheering you on!!!

Thanks guys! I am committed to making a healthier me and I'm much healthier than this time last year. I was thinking this morning when I was on my knees giving my son a bath how bad it hurt to stand up last year after being down in the floor...doesn't hurt at all now. I also took a nap every time he took a nap last year, now I use that time to do little projects around the house.0
