Are you happy with the way you look? That's when I plan to start maintaining. I don't have a set number.

You are in the mid-range of a healthy BMI, so now it's entirely up to vanity - there's no reason whatsoever why you shouldn't go into maintenance. If you're happy with the way you look, go to maintenance. If you're bored of dieting, go to maintenance. If you still think you look fat, maybe try doing some toning rather than losing more weight?

I am 5'6" and 130 and I am decently skinny. I think at 5'10" and 130 you would be too thin. Enjoy maintenance!!
  • well, considering my waist is 26, and someone told me that if i went to the beach in a bikini i would 'be a knock-out' :blushing: i think i'm going to maintain at this weight, i have been at 110:indifferent: , 130:smokin: , and now, 150, and i think i look pretty good.

Me too. 27" waist, but I'm 55. I've maintained here for a year, during which time my bust got larger (38") and waist and hips smaller.

I'll leave the bikinis to younger folks, but I can tell you my bathing suits look fantastic and yes, people do look in a very nice way. :blushing:

In terms of maintenance . . . my doctor told me not to lose any more (in fact, she told me that at 155), but said 150 was just fine. This is what I weighed at 21. I have been thinking for the last week of perhaps losing 5 more pounds over the summer, but what I actually think I want to do is move from walking to running and lose some inches and gain a bit more muscle and cardiovascular fitness.

    Go for the bikini!

    I'm also 5'10 and I weigh 155-160. I think you're there, too.

Sounds good to me. I would stop there and maintain, myself. If you still have any "cosmetic" issues, just work on body re composition - weight training etc. :flowerforyou:

The real question should be... CAN I maintain here? Can you maintain the lifestyle eating habits and exercise that will keep you in the 5-6 pound range of where you think you look good, and your clothes fit fine?? Do you have the time, money, resources, motivation to live this way? Hell yeah!

I'm like you -- I'm tall and trim, at 5'8" and 150lbs. I'm also strong, because I've worked on a lot of strength-training to make this weight and "size" (on me) look fit and healthy.

I've been a lower weight in my mid-30s, at 135lbs -- but I couldn't (didn't want to) maintain the eating habits and activity level that it took to stay that weight.

This time around, now that I'm in my late forties -- I set a more realistic goal, actually, originally at 160lbs. When I got there, I decided I could keep up that calorie level and actually wanted to be more active -- so I continued to lose, slowly.

What can you sustain? How much activity is good for you - mentally and time-wise? Do you like "what" and "how much" you are eating right now -- does it make you feel satisfied, flexible, and fueled?

I'm just over 5'11" and also recently hit the 150 mark. I think that is a good size for people of our height! If you feel good about where you are, go for it!

I'd say, yes. Go for weight maintenance. But that doesn't mean you can't do other things. For example, you can still do further toning of various muscle groups or other things to shape up any places you want to "fix". Start training for a marathon or take up hiking or something interesting.

Start focusing on eating healthier, for example. You can lose or maintain weight eating junk food as long as you cover the calories, but there are benefits to seeing what you are currently eating and improving the quality of those calories.

Anyway, congratulations. I reached my goal, but am still on here to keep my weight steady and track my macros and exercise.
