Do you eat more if

If you've had a day that you are WAY more active than usual, do you eat more?

I'm trying to eat at my BMR (roughly 1700 according to F2F)...but today I am absolutely famished! According to my BodyMedia I've burned just over 1,000 calories in exercise today. I was quite a bit more active than usual today...

I'm just wondering if it's okay to eat a bit more to satiate that hunger, or if I need to just ignore it. I don't plan on going crazy, but I've pretty much drowned myself in water and my stomach is still growling.

Thanks!

You can definitely eat more! Never ignore your hunger, our bodies are pretty smart and will let us know when they need something. Just make healthy food choices and keep it in moderation! GO EAT.

I usually eat back half of my exercise calories each day.

not normally I just change what I am eating...ie more protien.

On Sunday I ate 1k over my deficet but not because I was more active it was because we were moving my sister in law and her 3 roommates 1hour from my home and we were eating on the run...

I could have chosen a salad and a grilled chicken burger instead of the breaded burger and poutine but eh...

i log NEAT - because my exercise is really not predictable - so i always aim to eat back my excercise (though i don't always manage)

if you 're hungry eat - but first pick things that will keep you fuller for longer like protein
but also log it as accurately as possible

Are you eating your net BMR? or just 1700 regardless of activity? I would eat like the others suggested and just keep it healthy!

    1700 regardless...is that wrong? I *just* upped to 1700 instead of >1500

Well if your BMR is 1700, and you burned 1000 in exercise (plus whatever you burn all day long from regular activity), you're only netting around 700 cals.

Personally, I make sure my net is around 200 cals OVER my BMR each day. If you're going to set your goal to BMR, then you should be eating back exercise cals for sure.

If you go with the TDEE method, then take a cut from that (15-20%), that should be above your BMR and fuel you better. If you have an unusually high burn day, eat a little extra to keep the net above BMR is needed. Works like a charm for me.

According to my BodyMedia I burned 3235 calories for the day, 948 of those from exercise.

I've been told that my exercise isn't consistent enough to be eating at TDEE - level. But I've also been told (by my doc) that I absolutely MUST not go over 1200. I don't listen to him either...lol
