Please kick my *kitten*

So. Easter. Need I say more? I'm struggling getting back on the wagon, there's far too much leftover chocolate in the cupboard and some recent guests from Belgium brought us an assload of cakes yesterday. So. HALP. ;_;

Can I get some volunteers to friend me and kick my *kitten* back in line?! Thanks! Also any tips on how you beat the Easter monster would help!

I don't keep it in the house more than a week - after that it goes to work for other people to consume!

I just don't give into the whole chocolate stuff unless I workout. Been so much better about it. Only eating "regular" food on days that I am not able to workout.
I still consider the random pizza slice here and there "regular food", so don't judge lol.

you need to become accountable to yourself

only you chose to eat or not

    you need tog et strong

step one: log everything you consume - even if it's bad and you're embarassed by it - log it accurately, measure it
step two: move on and make a better decision next time you can't change what's already happened

take it one decision at a time

eat it? > weight it > log it> get over it and move on

I usually have no biscuits, cookies, sweets, chocolate in the house exactly for this reason
if i'm snacking I have to snack on fruit - which I log

this year I've had chocolate in hte house since christmas and I gave it up for lent, but becasue i promised myself to be accountable and to track EVERYTHING ACCURATELY, i'm coping better and haven't binged too often, when i've let myself go, I've logged and remained accountable (including that whole 200g lindt bunny at easter)

The thing is, I'm usually super good with great willpower, but for some reason this Easter I just snapped, and I'm a bit freaked out that I can't stop! I can't throw the sweets away because they're not just mine, so I've just been trying to avoid that cupboard so far. But thanks for the *kitten* kicking. I don't want anybody to be my willpower for me, just some tips! :)

So I was going to say throw it out after a week or so but you stated that it’s not yours. So whose is it? Perhaps they can account for it better, maybe keeping it in their room or splitting up cabinets and just stay out of their space. When I had roommates we always had our own cupboard space and never should the two cross.
But whatever the case just remember that we all have are moments when we slip or fail, the important thing to remember is not to dwell on the failure but to move on. Don’t beat yourself up, maybe examine what caused the failure so you can be on the lookout for the triggers in the future and avoid them altogether.
You can do this! Best wishes.

I don't want this to sound like I am pro-bad body image or anything but... Have you ever eaten stuff like that in front of a mirror? Take a good look at the areas of your body you want to change and think about the reasons why you started this in the first place. Think about yourself a few months from now if you don't over-do on the treats, think about your new healthy and fit body... and then shove the treats into your mouth. I guarantee you'll want to spit it right back out.

Also, as others have said, own it! Eat it, log it, own it. You are responsible for you and only you can exert will power over such things. Believe me, I have done the same thing in the past. Remember, will power is like a muscle... the more you use it the stronger it will get.

I understand that it's not yours to get rid of but... it's yours to eat? Hide it, or ask someone else to hide it and never tell you where it is. If you can get away with it, give it away or throw it away. I can't keep stuff like that in my house and I tell my husband often, if he wants to eat that kind of stuff he needs to eat it on his own time and never bring it into our house. I have tried in the past to buy treats thinking I could just have one now and then... nope. Once I start, the bag or box or container is as good as gone!

One little trick that has worked for me in the past is that I simply give myself permission to have it. I think the stress of trying to avoid it just gets to me sometimes. Once I tell myself (give myself permission), to have the treat when I want too, I just don't want it or need it any longer. I guess it's kind of a childlike mentality... when you say "No" to yourself it's becomes like the only thing you can focus on. But when you say "Yes" to yourself, it's easy to say... "yeah, sure I can have it if I want it but I don't really need it so...."

    Good luck!

I, too, had a little tumble off the wagon so to say this past week. My problem is I ran out of my normal sweet-tooth snacks and turned to the real stuff, chocolate! On top of the fact it was my time of the month, the cravings for salt, fat and sugar along with bloating and pain...I just chalked this last week up to a fail and am moving on this week!

I like to make sugar free, non-fat pudding and eat it with frozen strawberries when I'm really craving something sweet. It's enough without being too much.

You can't cut anything out completely or one day you'll snap! Pick a few treats for yourself that fit within your calorie range and shove the other stuff into a dark hole somewhere! It's never too late to start afresh!

    Good luck!

Oh my, of all the cakes there are out there undoubtedly my favorite is 'assload cake'. The sheer volume of so much cake ... my mind gets all wobbly just at the thought of it!

I was great not touching the kids stuff or even the 'extra basket' of stuff. Till I got sick last Thurs. Then ... well, assload comes to mind.

I recorded nothing that day. The next day I got right back on track. I looked up the cals in those damn Reese's pastel pieces. 15 cals per piece. 15 FREAKIN' cals PER PIECE!!!! No. Frukin'. WAY. am I going to let those tasty little suckers ruin the past month of hard work I did. I just looked at that candy and said "bugger off, candy. I am not going to eat you, you do not control me, go away." Haven't touched it since. Oh, it tries to call me as I walk past it ... I ignore it. Sometimes just saying 'NO!', without even giving yourself time to think about it, works. Sometimes it doesn't. Then? Log every, single bite. As you see the numbers add up it may really help in stopping you in your tracks. Remember, your body keeps an accurate log of what you eat regardless of what you do (or don't) write down. Good luck!

A butt load of cakes? Can't really blame anyone for wanting their cake and eating it too! Hmmm.... have a party of course! What doesn't go at the party, send home with others. One night of indulgence and then work your *kitten* off for the next few days.
