Hi all I'm Lisa and am 41 years old. I want to lose weight so I can feel better. I have diabetes and take pills to help control my blood sugar. I am to lose weight and excersize but have had no motivation. I am a Dr Pepper Holic and drink at least a 12 pack a day with my pack of cigarettes. I need to get healthy, so I don't die young. Any help is greatly appreciated. I need motivation.....and am trying to build up my self-esteem and my willpower!!! Welcome others.....

It is so great that you made the effort to join MFP. You will get lots of support here - feel fee to add me as a friend if you want.
A 12 pack of ANY soda is not good - really; one per day is more than is good but you are on a goal/mission and so any progress is progress. Smoking - and I smoked for 16 years - once you quit - you will be so happy - I know I am. All I can say is you are making your first steps and I know if you work it and stay strong you can do it!

As of today I have been a non smoker for one year and I wouldn't have it any other way. I can't believe I enjoyed smoking. It's a fantastic feeling to know you don't need it anymore. Good Luck to you Dreamer...you can do it! Baby steps, many small attainablel goals, and one thing at a time:)
  • Diet Dr. Pepper is really good. The best diet drink ever.

I wish you the best with your weight loss, but I'm sure that you've heard it penlty of times that if you eliminate soda from your daily diet you will shed pounds like a snake sheds skin. I've seen it work mircles with my mother. She will announce that she's losing 5lbs for an event and all she does it STOP DRINKING SODAS and it works everytime.

Although, since your just starting you could start off my drinking Diet Dr. Pepper. For the most part it taste like that real deal and isn't so bad for you. Again, I wish you the best of luck with your weight loss.

    Happy New Year.
