Anyone else get sick after a cheat meal?

This is an odd question, not sure how many out there experienced this or not. After a full 1 month diet of nothing but healthy foods, 3 weeks of walking 2-3 miles daily, and just 2 weeks of starting to use weights, I finally decided I wanted a cheat meal, something I really liked eating before. I ate (in moderation though still) 2 fried chicken tenders (kinda big for tenders), 3 cheese sticks, and a few potato wedges from the wal mart deli (they didn't have general tso's chicken sadly =(.......) anyway, felt fine at first, but after I gave time for the food to settle and digest, I decided to hit the elliptical and treadmill, after only being on the treadmill 10 minutes, my left side started having sharp pains shoot through it, and I started feeling bleh, got real weak. Is this my body telling my that it has got so used to eating healthy, even after a month, that fatty fatty foods are reacting different to me now?
I love chinese and japanese food, and would love to go to an all you can eat buffet the next time I decide to have a cheat meal, probably after another month or so, but don't want to get sick as a dog, even though for that short time it will probably be worth it =[)

This has happened to me twice. The first time I had side cramps while exercising as well. The second time, I overindulged... by a lot and physically couldn't get out of bed. After eating a deficient for such a long time my body just wasn't use to it. Also, I wasn't used to all the sugar and grease.0 -
Very rarely, unfortunately. This weekend I did, though. Felt horrible, all sweaty and bloated and nauseated. And I wasn't even working out. I hope it happens every time from now on.
I read they have to teach cows to eat corn. They have to ease them into it or they'll die. Corn isn't natural to cows. Maybe there is a lesson to be learned here?0 -
Sounds about right to me. I can't eat anything fried any more or I literally end up in the foetal position in agony.
But you know what - that's ok. More reason not to eat it!
Although I like your comment about the all you can eat buffet - also my go-to cheat meal once every few months! Just stay away from overtly fried foods (prawn toasts, samosas etc), especially to start off with. Go for noodles/rice with veggies and maybe just have a little bit of the other things.0 -
Certain things I used to eat on the regular now make my stomach hurt terribly. I think it's a good thing. My body is used to getting higher quality foods now so when crap comes along, it just doesn't want to deal with it. It's great for discouraging me from eating those foods further because honestly, it's just not worth the pain of eating.0

This happens to me whenever i try to eat fish, i get very, very nauseated. You may have developed a food allergy to some items that are not really any good for U.
If you can, let your body and feelings guide you---don't bother with "ingesting" foods you are now likely allergic to---food intolerance is what it sounds like you now have.0 -
thanks for the replies. when i see my wife fix foods she likes, i just go make my own food now unless she cooks it for me ;p I do miss mcdoubles though lol, but if i feel like that after eatin cheese sticks and chicken tenders i dunno what to expect lol.0

I completely missed the part about cows LOL Very interesting.0 -
Yeah this has happened to me before. Unlike your situation, I did not exercise right after, so maybe your food didn't digest enough? Anyway, I've felt bad for like a day after a cheat meal.0

I've had the same thing happen to me. Felt so good going down. Felts so bad afterwards. Felt sick all day.0

Yep. It sits like lead in my stomach.0

Yes, what once I considered a "reasonable" meal now tastes salty, fatty, veggie-less, hard to digest, and a poor fuel source. This is a good thing! It makes falling back into old habits that much harder.
I can't, however, recall it making me feel sick and painful.0 -
Yep, happens all the time. Usually in the form of stomach cramps and diarrhea0

This is why if I have a cheat meal it is usually after my exercise for the day. That way I can sleep it off, poop it out in the morning, and hopefully feel less heavier and bloated in time for the next day's exercise.0 -
I get side cramps if I eat too much and then run, regardless of what I ate.
Also, have you cut your fat intake? If so you'll find that your body reacts badly when you suddenly introduce a lot more fat.0 -
Yup. Had a day today that would have not been unusual previously, but I feel terrible with stomach problems. Had birthday cake, eggs benedict and fish and chip supper all in one day. Tasty, but I don't feel great,0

A high fat meal that follows a period on a low fat diet will wreck havoc on many people's stomachs. I personally, have wrecked a few toilets after a good meal of steak, lobster, and red wine. That combination is my kryptonite. Tasty, tasty kryptonite.0

I saw your other thread just now about not being able to eat enough calories. That makes me suspect that you're not getting enough fat. You should aim for a minimum fat intake of .35 grams per pound of body weight.0

Fried chicken and pizza make me a little queasy if I haven't had them in a while...then again I tend to go for the gold sometimes and eat a bit too much so that might have something to do with it.0

Yep - funnily enough sitting here feeling sick this morning - had a late night bread & butter attack ...
Maybe next time you are thinking of a cheat meal just have one thing? I think it is the high fat / salt / low fibre that makes us feel so YUK after eating better.0
