Never worried too much about weight or health, but now, all of a sudden it seems, I'm obese, hypertensive, pre-diabetic and old.

I think a change in eating habits, walking a few miles and climbing a couple hundred flights of stairs per week will turn the trick over the next year or so.

I know it's easier said than done so I'm hoping to draw inspiration and strength from all of you.

Hi there and welcome! I didn't worry too much either until I quit smoking 5 years ago and gained a few lbs.... okay 18 lbs. (not all from smoking). I'm 59 and now force myself (actually enjoy it but claim to hate) to exercise 6-7 days a week. I lost the 18 lbs and am on maintenance which is the hard part. I'm on daily and happy to support ;-)

Thanks for the encouragement Marcie. I too quit smoking, about a dozen years ago now, but I'm fat due to lack of work, not nicotine. Congratulations on achieving your goal. I've got about 65 lbs to go, but the docs say 50 might be enough to drop the blood pressure meds.

    Keep the faith

Just remember, the toughest part of any endeavor is getting off the couch.

    Here to help.

I'm "only" 48 but started because the cholestoral was already creeping up... or down... the 'good' was too low.
changes of habits feel a lot better! numbers are getting better. yeah!

Sounds like you're not working so the 'no time' is not an excuse. Show those doctors, and heck all your friends, that you CAN do this. No medicine required.

Feel free to friend me if you'd like

    Nancy
