Which meal should I choose from this menu?

Hi everyone

I feel that I'm doing really well on my current diet/exercise plan, however I am going out for dinner with my boyfriend and his parents this Friday, and really want to keep up the good work when eating out!

The restaurant sounds delicious but annoyingly they don't do salad or obvious healthy options - I'd really appreciate any thoughts on what the healthiest/low calorie option would be from this menu!

Thanks (in advance) for your help! :)

Didnt look at the menu but generally, creamy curries, such as korma, tikka masala, pasanda are more calorific than non-creamy e.g. jalfrezi, madras.....

Thanks for your reply! It's not your typical (Western) curry restaurant with jalfrezi etc, so I'm a little bit stumped! :)

That's what I was thinking! I was worried that the masala dosa may be calorific... I think it's between that or having the chicken but not eating the naan.. decisions decisions! All sounds delicious though

You're half an hour from me !!!

I love curry and my usual would be :-

    Starter : Onion Bhaji
Main : Chicken Tikka and share a Mushroom Rice

    copious amounts of COBRA !!!

The menu in this place is quite limited but in general, lamb and pork are more calorifically dense than chicken ... and all rice / breads are high carbs and will be costly for calories.

I very rarely go to a restaurant to eat and am strict with what I eat when I cook / prepare food. Personally then, I'd go and enjoy the curry to have what I want for the one night (perhaps being more careful for breakfast and lunch so as to save the calories).

    So for me :-

    MURG TIKKA CHETINAD for starters.
MURGH ZAFRANI DO PYAZA for main.
...and whatever beer they have !!

Just log it .... if you go over your calories for that one day then so be it. Saturday is a new day - go for a run, hit the gym and burn it!!

    Side Note :-

The cashews will be costly for calories ... but it's good fats.

^^^^^ one non-angelic day will NOT undo weeks / months / years of otherwise good work!

Hi there! I'll let you know if the restaurant is good if you fancy a visit :)

Very true, it's hard to relax into eating a treat after being so careful recently, but we all deserve treats don't we? Wise words from you! Thank you :)

    that food looks lovely nomnom

have a think about your macros, and try to adapt earlier in the day where possible - for me my problems are usually getting enough protein and fat to keep my macros in balance
i like the sound of the lam kebab and salad starter
i would then go for either the kharai panner, kharai sambar or the nellore chapala pulusu (fish stew)
and i would definitely try the beetroot and cardamom ice cream

    have fun :)

eat it - enjoy it - log it

The menu sounds lovely, next time we're in Brighton (we're in Kent) we may have to try it! I would avoid the masala and the paneer, to keep the calories down, otherwise just enjoy!

As has been said one day going over won't hurt...just relax, enjoy yourself and eat a sensible quantity of whatever you fancy.
