Hey, I am new to the website. I've used MFP in the past, but simply for counting calories. I have been lurking around here for a little bit so I thought it was time I introduce myself.
I'm Dani, I am 31, and a married mom of 3 children.
I am quite certain I have a thyroid issue, which is why I am feeling so desperate lately. After a period of rapid weight loss despite not paying attention to eating and not exercising a lick (among other "typical" symptoms) I have now, assuming it's my thyroid, switched from Hyper into Hypo. In 1.5 months I packed on 35 pounds. (again, along with many other symptoms, but for me this is the most drastic and problematic.) For the last 3 weeks I have been exercising once or twice a day, for 40-100 minutes each time, both cardio and weight training, but mostly cardio. My eating has been great. No refined sugars and lots of water. I have only continued to GAIN weight, thought the pace is slower than the 35 lbs that literally flew on from no where.
I have always been athletic, and easily gained muscle or lost weight. This has got me so incredibly down. So here I am.
I do NOT wish to get treated by an MD if this is indeed a thyroid issue because I do not want to go on any type of synthetic hormone or thyroid medication. I've known too many people that continue to battle with their thyroid issues despite traditional treatment, often times, the treatment making things worse, and even more of a roller coaster. I am taking 2 natural supplements for Thyroid and Adrenals, and since, my hair has stopped falling out by the stinking pound, and the weight gain has slowed. But that's it. I am at a loss and do not know what else to try to bring my weight down. Protein, Check, Vitamins, Check, Checking calories, Check. Water, Check. Carbs, Check. Sweating, Check. Now I am just very very discouraged.
I am 5'7" and hovering between 165 & 170 day to day.
And that's my story. So, Hi!

Welcome to MFP! I'm sure if you make some supportive friends here on MFP, log your food and any exercise you do, and try to eat at a deficit you will see results. Thyroid issues can make weight loss a bit slower than you might like, but it should happen eventually. I've found the support of friends on this site to be extremely helpful! Best wishes!0
