Hello, I've recently had a baby and I was fairly big before but I've put on over a stone through my pregnancy and now I just can't stop eating even when I'm full! I just eat for the sake of it and I'm fed up and just wana lose a few stone but no matter what I can't stick to a diet! They don't even last a day! Can anyone give me any tips or help on what I can do?? Also would anybody like to be buddies and help motivate each other and chat? My fitness pal name is xsarahj91x ????

maybe your target calorie intake isn't high enough. That's the top reason I drop off a diet plan -- not enough calories to keep me from going insane from hunger.

I don't think it's that cuz I try and stick to a realistic amount, I've just got a really bad sweet tooth and love fast food, if I see it I'll just eat it and I can't help myself

By "diet" do you mean "unnecessary restriction of food" or do you mean you can't stay within your IIFYM calories? If you're restricting things, stop. You don't need to.

Not sure what anyone can really tell you if you are not willing and able to do it yourself.

People here are very encouraging and helpful when questions are asked, but when someone comes on board saying they cannot do anything, cannot get into any new way of life, then...well, they dont want it enough yet.

Gather yourself and just start eating less calories than you need.

    YOu can eat fast food.

You can eat whatever you want.

I think my problem is and the reason I can't stick to one is because I think I just have to eat boring foods and never get to eat things such as chocolate etc until I lose the weight which I want which will be ages!

Maybe start off with just tracking what you are currently eating. Everything you are eating. Do that for a little while and start making changes from that. Small things like just decreasing portions a little at a time may be easier to manage than a big *kitten* change all at once.

this is great advice. just learn what's in the food you eat. log it. and be honest.

So stop "dieting". Eat a little less, move a little more, track your food, and you'll do just fine. Want an ice cream cone? Ok. Have one. and then resume your day. You can still have treats and the things you love, just practice portion control.

You don't have to give up foods to lose weight. Just make sure you work them into your calorie/macro goals.

Don't get down on yourself just for having a bad day. One day is not going to make or break you. Its taken me quite a while to get to where I'm at but I've realized that you cant make all the changes you want right away. Ease into it. If you start buy cutting out everything that's 'bad' right away you won't succeed. Start gradually and you will be fine. Good luck! :)

Don't diet. Change your lifestyle one step at a time. If you try to do too much at once, the chances are that you will fail. Take things slowly, one step at a time, and before you know it you'll see a massive difference.

Make one small change a week. Maybe if you like sugary drinks, replace them with diet ones. Or if you go for a takeaway regularly, skip one this week. If you like your chocolate, cut back on that this week. Don't eat enough vegetables? Have extra veggies with a meal or two this week. Don't do any physical exercise? Go out and walk for an hour.

Just find things in your lifestyle that are unhealthy, and make a change. Just one. Then whilst keeping that up, make another the following week. Keep doing that, and in no time at all you'll be leading a much healthier lifestyle.

I can't diet either. Never have and probably never will, but I've never been an over eater except for the occasional holiday feasts. If you can't work with your diet work with your exercise. Gyms have child care, get a jogging stroller, something to get out of the house. Exercise will not influence your appetite but it will make you want to make healthier food choices.

Yeah, you don't need to punish yourself like that. Eat all the food (in moderate portions of course), maintain your deficit, and be happy. I swear I eat more now then when I was fat.

    Check out alternate day fasting.
Been working for me, and I still eat the stuff I love.

Are you getting enough sleep. It's really hard to make good food choices when your tired make sure you nap when your little one naps at least some of the time. For the moment, just try not to put anymore on and start trying to lose when your in a better frame of mind.

I'm a foodie...I do not do bland or boring and never have. I cook awesome food and am a total snob when it comes to dining out...I lost 40 Lbs easily just eating a little less of all of those things I love and moving a little more. Weight loss isn't so much about the food you eat, it's about how much food you eat.

I would also suggest doing a bit of research on what constitutes proper nutrition...a lot of people, for example, try to cut out virtually all fat because they are under some 80s mindset that dietary fat makes you fat...in reality, going super low fat jacks your hormones up and leads to nutrient deficiencies (because you can't absorb fat soluble nutrients) and makes weight loss even harder because those hormone imbalances and deficiencies jack your metabolism up.

Basically eat a well balanced diet including plenty of lean protein, healthy fats, whole grains, fruit and veg, and if your calorie allotment allows for it, some ice cream here and there.

Make small changes first - not restrictions just changes. Check serving sizes of the foods you like - eat just 1 serving instead of a whole package.

You've had the servings and still want it...For cravings there are some tricks you can do - when you want to eat for no reason go find something else to do, put the baby in the stroller and take a walk around the block. Brush your teeth. Get up and do something busy, clean out your closets, organize, clean the bathroom... Drink a tall COLD glass of water before you take the first bite, wait 10 minutes then have a snack.

Best thing to do to start is change NOTHING and start tracking your food calories, weigh your solid food with a scale and measure your liquids with a measuring cup and log it in to MFP diary. Then after a couple of weeks, look at you logs. Find 1 thing that is super bad and cut it in half or remove it completely if you can. Then add small bits of exercise, a 10 minute walk a day for a week then a 20 minute walk for week 2, 30 minutes for week 3 and so on.

Don't think of this as a diet - it's not. It is lifestyle improvements for a new and improved you!

dont avoid any particular food. eat what you like just be very good about recording it and do not exceed your calorie goal.

that is far more easily said then done, but typically people think of a diet as (1) eating less and (2) avoiding certain foods.

if you don't bother with (2) then IMO you really have made the whole process 50% easier.

Remember, there are no fattening foods, only fattening behavior.

Being successful at getting healthy is a process. It should be the primary goal. Losing weight is a side effect of getting healthy. We have to change out mindset about food. There can be no more days of scarfing down all the food in sight. We have to learn to moderate our eating habits. We have to learn portion control, eat healthy 80% of the time, and not restrict all the foods we enjoy.

With all that being said, most importantly, we have to educate ourselves about how to do all these things. Here's a link that may help you put some things in perspective. There's no on in there to do it for you - but if you make yourself strong enough - you can do it all on your own.
