Hello,

I am currently 13st 9lbs and would really appreciate some support in getting from walking to jogging. I have a treadmill at home. I am considering lowering my carbs and cutting out bread. I have not exercised for a long time and am basically starting from scratch. I love the photographs of before and after losing some weight and toning which I think I should do to help me on my journey. Any support appreciated.

I have to be honest, I'm not a fan of running for most anyone over the age of 18!. There are so many low impact ways to get your heart rate up, and plenty of studies to support the idea that walking FAST gives all the benefits, but without the injuries. As a licensed massage therapist, I see the ravages of running all the time.
If you must jog, a treadmill is far easier and safer. Download the Couch to 5K App, as it will increase you slowly. Again, IMO, walking outdoors is FAR better.
    Best Wishes....I'm sending you a FR now : )

Look into a program like Couch to 5K (shortened to C25K), it works off an interval basis (run a little, walk a little) which is actually the best way to run. Long endurance runs burn muscle not fat. Losing fat (rather than "weight" which could just be muscle) via weight training is your best bet, teamed with interval training.

I have just figured out to find messages on my original thread. I downloaded couch to 5k and it's great. I am loving it but have built in walks in the morning. Thank you

weight loss happens in the kitchen, so make sure to focus on diet for weight less. Exercise to feel good and get fit.

I started C25k 2 weeks ago and I am loving it! It is never too late to get moving! I am doing my second 5k this weekend and I plan to do a walk/jog combo to beat my walking time from my first 5k. You can do this!
