Supplements

Thought I haven't officially made my full transformation into my healthly lifestyle. I would like a little boost to getting the weight off. My boyfriends mom is on a plan where she takes a supplement. I knew it had to be something because she was that she lost 7lbs in 16days! I don't know if I want the weight to fall off that rapidly, but I would like to know people's opinons on supplements and can I get them at the drug store or pharmacy section at the grocery store?

I use to think there was always something out there that would make me drop weight like that too, but there are always side effects. Its not how we need to lose weight! I would recommend you finding a supplement for something you NEED, and NOT for weightloss. Losing weight takes time, energy, planning, and working out...simple walking does it I hope this helps.0

Supplements work well to help take off the weight, but the problem with them is that they don't teach you how to eat properly and when you stop taking them the weight comes back on. With that said I personally don't see any problem with them as long as they are paired with proper diet and exercise to help maintain the weight loss when you are finished taking them.
I would also recommend doing some research on what ones are good to take because there are some out there that help with the weight loss but are actually really bad for the body.0 -
I think ideally you should be eating lots of raw foods throughout the day that covers all your nutrional needs without supplmentation. However, here in the real world, I know that even on my best days, I am not covering all the bases on core nutrition.
I take a daily supplement. I think you have to consider your diet, what the supplement is designed to deliver, and make a decision on what is right for you. What is right for you might not be right for me, for example.
Finally, I think there are a lot of really crappy products in the herbal product category as it is not as strictly regulated as pharmaceuticals. Some products are not what they say they are on the bottle or not what you need at all. I think you should purchase from a source that you trust. This might mean paying more, but you really can be taking your chances with off-brand products.
Good Luck!!!

It seems like every time a diet pill turns out to actually work, it's later found to cause heart attacks or something. I would do it the old fashioned way and leave the weird chemicals to the chemists. 1 pound per week is a good goal.0

I'm 50 and take a few supplements. I take fish oil & grape seed extract for my heart. A Glucosamine/chondroitin/msm joint supplement to keep my joints healthy. And, CLA & L-carnitine that have been shown to help with fat loss. I feel these have helped me with my personal nutritional needs, but the most important part of my success has been eating healthy and exercising consistently for the last 7 months. I started at 263.5 the beginning of June and weighed in 12/31/2010 at 200.0
