Why must my body punish me for helping it? @.@

Ok, this seems to happen every time I try to start losing weight, especially working out. First two weeks go well, then my body begins to protest..with...

-Abdominal cramping
-Weaker bladder (and going ALOT)
-Bowel irregularities
-General crankyness

All I'm doing is 30 minutes of walking each day and trying to give up soda and change eating habits, but this goes on until I give up and go back to being lazy. How does one counter this? x.x

When your diet changes, you'll often notice differences in the amount/frequency of bowel movements. If you're urinating more, it could be that your body normally retains a lot of water and by reducing soda consumption (which has sodium) and changing eating habits, your body sheds the excess water.

I never had cramping and was never cranky. Those are symptoms of not eating or sleeping enough though.

That makes sense. The soda reduction has been gradual. I used to drink 2 liters a day, then today had my final can...kind of figures the urinary stuff began when I started getting down to one serving a day.

Being cranky and the tummy aches can also be a sign of withdrawl, have you drastically changed your diet? If so it could just be a withdrawl effect from sugar and/or excess sodium or even caffeine if you normally drink caffenated soda and have stopped. It might help to elimate one "junk" food at a time so start with the soda, then the candy, then the chips or whatever your go to junk food may be.

Your stomach cramping could be hunger rather than actual cramping, when you make these changes are you drasitcally cutting your calories? This could be off base, just thinking about possibilities.

That being said, I know for me I have an easier time going cold turkey and just being uncomfortable for a couple days. If the stomach ache is severe or it doesn't go away I would definitely check with your doctor.

Keep an eye on the cramping/bowel issues. If that hasn't evened itself out within a week, I'd see a doc.

Your diary isn't public so I can't really see if you're doing way too large a deficit (I.e. your body is screaming at you that it's starving)
