US women's clothes sizes in odd numbers?

I often see female MFP members from the US saying that they are a size 5, 5/6, a 7, an 11 or whatever. So is it common to be able to get clothing in odd number sizes in the US? I mean odd as in not even, rather than odd meaning strange, in case that wasn't clear
In the UK we only get clothes in 'even' sizes and I always seem to be in between sizes, so over the years I would have loved to be able to get clothes in a UK size 13 for example. I do realise that there's a whole debate about inconsistent sizing and "vanity sizing" in shops, but I just wondered if it's easier in the US if you're not a standard size? (Although whenever I've been to the US and gone shopping I'm sure I've only ever seen clothes in even sizes :puzzled: )

Odd numbers are for Junior (teen) sizes only, women's sizes are even (2, 4, 6, 8 ...).0

WHAT?! -gets out of teen section-
Edit: A lot of "women's" clothing is boring, though...0 -
Ah ok, thank you :00

We'd better stick with Dotty P's and Next eh :noway:0 -
i still wear some juniors stuff. Especially pants.. All "women"s sizes are cut like mom jeans0

Yeah, odd sizes are shaped for a less 'mature' figure. And a size 5 is NOT the same size as a 6. I can wear a size 12 in ladies pants, but need a 17 in junior sizes.0

hmmm I have not found that to be true for me. I currently wear a size 14 ladies (not plus), a couple of 12s have made it into my closet but not enough to say I wear 12 -- and 13 and 15 juniors both fit me perfectly. When I wore a 16 ladies the 15 juniors was snug but fit also. Maybe it is because I am still in a larger range or something...or the particular juniors stuff I buy (mainly Target juniors stuff, a few items from JC Penney in juniors sizing, and Wallflowers jeans).
However I do find that juniors S/M/L/XL runs a bit smaller than ladies sizes, generally more narrow and with way shorter sleeves.0 -
I'm 33 and still shop in the junior's bottoms section because they fit me better. I have small hips and am straight legged so it's very hard to find that fit in even sizes. And it's usually cheaper too0
