Everybody knows that limiting calories causes weight loss, but I have noticed other benefits as well. For instance, I never have heartburn when I am staying within my limit. I don't feel lethargic after lunch. I sleep better. I have more energy. Anybody notice other benefits?

p.s. Anybody want to be my friend?

I use to have heartburn nearly 2-3 times a week. Ever since I have been watching my intake, I haven’t noticed it at all!
Plus I normally would get headaches daily but now I am realizing I wasn’t getting enough water.

Yep I notice the benefits :drinker:
  • I agree. No reflux, no post-prandial lethargy. Less lethargy all around, in fact, even though I've lost just a few pounds.

Yes, just counting calories I've loss weight with out really changing what I eat. (ate kinda healthy anyway, just alot of it) I know when I lose more I will have to change what I eat but for right now it's a start.
I also don't have heartburn anymore, it's so much nicer to go to bed and not get that feeling anymore.

I sleep SO much better than I did before. I think that has a lot to do with me not drinking so much sodas anymore more than anything.

Me too! and way less PMS which was out of control! But I don't know if that's the weight loss, the healthy eating, or the calorie limits. I feel better, i'm not all puffy and tired looking. I don't go to bed feeling sick-ish from junk food. I'm sure it's the exercise, the weight loss, and the healthier normal portions, plus drinking more water.

bubblybabeuk and TracieJ65 - Thank you so much for the lovely comments and support. You have no idea how much they mean to me.

MissingMinnesota and nammyl, I hadn't even thought about what you both mentioned - you are absolutely right. Especially the part about feeling sick-ish after eating junk food. I HATE that feeling! I'm guessing that the junk food also contributes to the...how shall I put it...feeling crappy... that MissingMN mentioned.

Hi! Added you as my friend. The biggest "side effect" I've seen by watching my calories was definitely the energy increase--especially in the afternoon after lunch. I used to get sleepy between about 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Exercise helped a ton as well.

    I'd love to be friends!

In the vein of TMI, I actually have noticed that counting calories has made me considerably less "regular" if you will. I'm coming back from a holiday free-for-all which I am not proud of but I will say that eating high-fat, high-cal foods like normal again did restore my regularity. I have absolutely no explanation for this since my meal times haven't changed at all and you'd think vegetables would be better for you!

The best benefit of calorie counting for me is that I don't tend to think about food as much. Like once I have decided on lunch, I know when I'm going to eat again and I don't think about food again until I'm hungry/it's time to eat again. It's been nice to get a little bit more control in being able to separate appetite from hunger.

Another benefit... since I have been cooking healthier food at home and packing my guys lunch with healthier options, he now gets sick when he eats fast food! He was formerly addicted to McMysteryMeat Nuggets. He even decided he would go hungry because he didn't want to eat Burger King at the airport. Now, how to get him off KFC wings?...

Add me if you like :flowerforyou:

Feel free to add me as a friend! I'm a little younger than you but we have pretty close to the same amounts left to lose! I completely agree with the no lethargic feeling after lunch.

Not sure if it the calorie counting or the exercise but according to my cardiologist, but she has seen benefits - a left valve regurgitation went from significant to mild.. that is pretty significant. All of my blood work was hugely improved too.
