When trying to gain abs I know they say it's mostly what you eat so do you want full fat dairy or lowfat or fat free because I've seen where some people say you want full fat dairy but I've been reading a book that says to eat fat free or lowfat dairy

Doesn't matter. Abs show at a low enough BF% which is achieved through lifting and eating at a deficit.0

When they say "it's what you eat" they don't mean you need to eat certain foods. They mean that you need to eat at a calorie deficit to lose body fat.0 -

Heh, I actually prefer the taste of skim milk. The full-fat has that funky slimy texture... blech. I compromise and go for 2%0 -

Well, here's the thing - packaged and processed food items are full of things that no one should really be eating. They're there to maximize the profits of the manufacturers, not provide you with nutrition. Or do you think that moderate portions of sawdust are ok?
Obviously everyone has to figure out what works for them, but I've had great success and so have the people I've coached by simply eliminating boxed, bagged and canned stuff.
I got with Michael Pollan - if your great grandmother wouldn't recognize it as food, don't eat it.

Other than that, fat free is not for me, though I won't avoid something just because it is low fat.0 -
Maybe you would have some knowledge about this I have a muffin top without wearing clothes and even when I'm 115lbs I have it if I get my weight low enough will that go away I'm 5ft 4in but I don't want to be underweight I don't exercise right now but I know abs are about having a low bodyfat percentage right now I weigh 127lbs0

I have full fat dairy all the time... deficit, heavy lifting, some cardio, lots of water will get you there. Your weight doesn't even have to change much.0

In my opinion your issue has nothing to do with weight and everything to do with body composition. If your body fat is over 20% you could be 10 pounds lighter than you are now and you will still have no definition visible in your abdominals. For men abdominal definition doesn't start to show up until you get below 15% BF.
How do you get there? Not by starving yourself, that's for sure. You are not overweight. Going into a big calorie deficit will just cause your hormones to go out of whack and your body to metabolize muscle tissue for fuel (bad) and store as much fat as it can manage (also bad). I would focus on maintaining your current weight and adjusting your macronutrients. If you can drop your carbohydrate consumption to below 150 grams per day and increase your protein so that you're getting at least 100 grams per day (and the rest of your calories from good healthy fats) you should see things start to change.
Add some resistance training exercises to the mix and you'll start to build muscle and your body should start to burn your stored fat for fuel.
