How many calories a day ?!

I started logging calories again last week. MFP suggests 1,310 calories a day for me to lose 1lb a week. I was just checking out another logging program and that one says I should be at around 1,500 calories a day....... now i'm confused and not sure which I should be going closer too. I am 5"1 and am currently 177.8 and want to get to 125lbs.
I put down light activity. I am actually going to buy the Fitbit that is around $60 right now.
Thanks for any help and or suggestions.

What I do and what I recommend to people is to eat at a calorie level that allows you to drop 1-2 lbs/week. This assumes an average calorie burn from you getting in all of your workouts. This will be different for everyone, so you'll have to do some trial and error to figure it out. I'd start ~1600 cal/day. Hit this goal, along with your macros and getting in your workouts, for a week. If you lose 1-2 lbs, you're good to go. If you lose too much, increase your intake and repeat. If you don't lose enough, reduce your intake a bit and repeat. After a few weeks, you'll figure out what works for you in your situation.

MFP assumes that you will be exercising and that you eat back those exercise calories. Does the other programme you looked at gives a flat rate of 1500 cal whether you exercise or not?0

Giving the same calorie goal to various people without taking into account their stats and activity level is not particularly helpful.0 -
I justd edited my other account (Lose It) to lose 1.5lbs a week and it changed the calorie goal to 1275 so I think for this week coming I will stick to about 1300 a day and see what happens in a week.0
