My list of Supplements.. need advice

I have lots of supplements that I have bought over the years and I still am confused over which ones are the most beneficial?? I used to take about 8 different supplements a day... overkill maybe? Either way, I know some supplements really aid in a person's progress so I would love some advice from people who have some experience in this area, or have seen results using a certain supplement.

These are the supplements I currently have... I am NOT taking all of these.. but this is what I have to work with.

BCAA'S
Multi-Vitamin
Glucosamine Sulfate
Fish Oil
Green Tea Extract
Apple Cider Vinegar
Biotin
CLA
Protein Powder
Fiber Supplement

Thanks in advance for your insight and help!

If exercise is a part of your daily routine I would use the BCAA's and Protein powder. I've taken CLA and was not convinced it provided any benefit. I would only take the others if your daily nutrition is deficient of significant amounts. I take a whole food supplement that has improved my digestion more than any other thing I've used.

I've been taking supplements for years. I don't have an opinion on the benefits. I half suspect it's only a placebo effect but I feel pretty good and energetic for my age. My doctor knows I'm taking all of the below:

    Multi vitamin
    Calcium
    Magnesium
    D
    Resveratrol
    DHEA
    CoQ10

I quit taking fish oil when the study came out linking it to higher rates of prostate cancer.

    Stick to the basics:

    Protein if you need it
    Multivitamin
    Fish oil

The rest is just fluff. Most supplements aren't that viable in the digestion process.

    ^^^^ this, this & this.

Shira, if you are eating meats, fish, veg, fruits, nuts, etc., you are getting all you need. The occasional protein powder is nice when you don't have time for a meal.

Here is a great article on protein and BCAAs from Dr Stuart Phillips.

I know of lots of people that use supplements.. Surely they can't all be wrong? Anyways, thanks to everyone for their opinions.
I have decided to stick with Fish Oil, Protein Powder, BCAA's, Multi Vitamin, Apple Cider Vinegar, and Glucosamine ( for my joints.. Bad knees)

Definitely keep fish oil. Simple protein powders like 100%whey/casein are great to help meet protein goals and maintain macro ratios. Multivitamins are fine but they are more to catch any deficiencies you might have. If you are eating right you shouldnt have those deficiencies anyway.

Glucosimine effectiveness has a hard time standing up to scientific scrutiny.

Agree. Fish Oil and protein powders are effective. Creatine maybe something you want to look into as well.

I use BCAA and apple cider as well, but my expectations are they help maybe 5-10%.

I also take Glutamine and ZMA. If nothing else, they give me lucid dreams. Really...at night I'm swimming down waterfalls and hot air ballooning.
