Could be what you're eating thats causing the big weight changes. If I eat anything made of rice, I will be about 5+ lbs heavier the next day. I'm not 100% sure its the rice because there is usually a good amount of sodium in the rice as well that could be part of the problem. I love phad thai noodles and other asian dishes but I pay a stiff price in my blood sugar and water weight gain when I eat them (rarely).

You should always weight yourself using the same scale and at the same time of the day. Wake up time is best, also naked helps. Anything that you change will also cause a change on the scale, the type of clothes you are wearing, what you just ate, how long ago you ate... Ten pounds is a lot, it sounds like you are just inconsistent. This is not water weight or your true weight fluctuation.

I weight myself when I wake up, before I eat or drink anything, naked before shower. One pound or less of fluctuation is what I see.

    Hope this helps.

10 pounds seems like a pretty aggravating fluctuation. That could represent months of work.

When was the last time you changed the batteries?

Weight can fluctuate up to 5 lbs a day, depending on the person sometimes more or less. I think I'd look into getting a new scale if the batteries aren't what's causing it.

Its clearly a fluctuation though associated with water retention, it isn't fat so it isn't representative of any loss of "work" at all. Just measure your scale weight regularly day in and day out then average the results week to week and over the period of months you should see the AVERAGE decrease. Day to day your weight will fluctuate all over the place thats natural.

10 pounds does seem like a lot but if you consider 400mg of sodium takes 2 pounds of water to dilute to your bodies saline levels then once can see how you can end up retaining a lot of water over the course of a day.

I've gained 8 pounds from one day to the next, I just logged it and moved on. It happens, its water, its no big deal.
