Congrats on making your goal. Maintenance is awesome. I have been in maintenance now for a little over 2 years.
You will get responses that will range from increasing your calories 100/week to eat them all right now.
When I switched, I had a hard time increasing the calories because I stayed with my regular "weight loss foods" and I felt full with them. So, if you are feeling full with your current "volume" of food...maybe you should try to eat more luxuriously as first. Have some smoked ribs instead of a baked chicken breast, for example. Same quantity of food but one is more calories per ounce than the other (obviously). Enjoy yourself.0 -
Hey.
I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm a college student who's 18 and I've also have, up until recently, been eating at a big deficit. I'm about two weeks in to maintenance.
I think I'm going to add you.
I don't share my diary with people but I'll probably post stuff about my food in status updates or something if you're interested.
EDIT: Wow, we're really similar. I'm into the sciences as well and I'm petite.0 -
I'm not in maintenance mode yet but I worry I'll mess it up I MUST keep the weight off Im 46 and I don't want to yo yo any more !0

My advice would be to start with your activity, and move it to what you plan to sustain for the long term. Keep that steady for a few weeks, then start upping calories 100 at a time.
Depending on what you quantify as "extreme" deficit, this may be a tough road...0 -
Lost 65 lbs. and have been maintaining for close to 2 years. Increase calories slowly, hold for 2 weeks, monitor and adjust. Make a decision: Is your maintenance going to be fueled by vigorous exercise and an increase of 300-400 more calories, or moderate exercise and a moderate increase in calories. Set a 5-6 pound range that you would be okay with. Mine is 152-158. I usually keep my exercise the same and make minor adjustments in calories to stay comfortably in my range.
Take 2 days out of the week and include your "crave" foods into your menu (without going over your daily calories).0 -

How extreme was your deficit, and how long did it take you to lose the weight? What have you calculated your maintenance calories to be and how did you arrive at that number?
Knowing a few more details may influence some of the advice you get.
Congrats on your weight loss!0 -
Tanks guys! I'm working on increasing my calories every couple days and decreasing my exercise...such a hard change0
