Is crunches useless on stomach fat burning? (pic)

I've been cutting calories for around 48-49 days now... and I've lost 10 pounds... Started 163 pounds now 153-154 pounds, although the scale went up to 156.7 today. But It's probably water or something I hope.

Anyhow... I just want to lose this stomach and the back rolls. I know you can't target fat, but I do want abs... so is it best to do sit ups now or ab works now? Because I'm hearing that it is useless to do crunches or any ab workout when there's layers of fat there.

Here's 2 pics of stomach (YUCK)

Like my profile pic says, I never did a single crunch to get those abs. Exercise doesn't create abs. They are revealed as you reduce body fat.

I got my abs by a moderate calorie deficit and heavy lifting 3-4 days a week. The only targeted ab work I did was five sets of ten hanging leg raises once or twice a week.

You'll only get abs once your body fat percentage gets lower, and that takes time. I suggest you make sure you're eating enough (TDEE-15-20%) and start lifting heavy. Heavy weighted squats and deadlifts will help tighten your midsection even before your abs start showing.

Hi! Congrats on the weight loss

The old saying "abs are made in the kitchen" is the truth. It will really come down to diet in the end to see them. My mum is a bodybuilder and has amazing abs but never does crunches or sit ups.

Good luck and keep at it - consistency and hard work are the keys to success.
