I do not know why the phrase "extra bonus" has become a thing. :noway: "Bonus" means "something extra" already!

Sorry for the grammar police post but this one just. . . . agh. :grumble:

But if there's an extra bonus, I'm far more likely to sign on because... extra bonus!

The language faux pas I notice the most (and I'm FAR from perfect) are "all of the sudden", improper use of the word 'like', "first annual", "irregardless", interchanging 'literally' and 'figuratively' and "should of, would of, could of".

But I don't mention it to the user with one rare exception: if they say something asinine like, "Your dumb." Then I can't resist, especially if the person is acting like an *kitten*.

I'm the opposite. I cringe when people say, " I could care less".

"Oh really, how much less could you care, just a little bit or a lot?"

Perhaps they mean "added bonus" but use the word "extra"? Or they're giving away one bonus and then as "an extra bonus" (ie: added bonus to the original bonus) you get XYZ as well.

I hate that too, it's "couldn't care less" not "could"

I was posting the correct one lol. Guess I didn't make that clear haha.
I ask them how much less they could care when they post the wrong one hahaha.

But the thing is. . . why do an ADDED bonus in the first place??? Isn't one bonus enough?!

I also notice, and get irritated by, all of these. Especially "irregardless" (THAT"S NOT A WORD!!) and "could of" etc.

Too bad there isn't a better "grammar-check" in computer systems-- maybe that way people would learn.

Once you understand that it's actually a hot-water heater, making it a compound adjective it becomes less redundant. It's purpose isn't to heat water, it's to supply a house with domestic hot water. ;) That being said they did that because there are a lot of heaters that heat water.. There are Hydronic Boilers, Steam Boilers, Instantaneous Water Heaters, Point of Use water heaters.. but a Hot-Water Heater is the only one that is called by that name. :drinker:

That's a silly thing to put on a water cooler, though..
