Need help w/ weight-scale issues

Hey all- when I originally weighed myself at the start if my diet, I used my at home digital scale by Taylor. It says in the instructions to weigh yourself nude, and if possible- out of the shower. I've been doing that on a weekly basis and the results show about a 15lb loss so far. However, I got weighed on the old fashioned scale at the docs office this morning, and it said I was 7lbs different than my home scale weight! And it was 7lbs higher! So now I'm stumped of which scale to go by and use. I doubt I have 7lbs of clothes on that would make a difference! Help me figure this out. I want to be as accurate as possible. Thanks

I would stick with the one at home, unless you plan on doing your weekly weigh-ins at your doctors.

Body weight varies even at different times of the day. I also suspect your bathroom scale will be less accurate than your doctor's scale. You may need to adjust the scale to give the appropriate weight. I'm also pretty sure most people here would not recommend weighing yourself every day.

Shoes and clothes are easily several pounds. Breakfast, coffee, any water you had, etc. I always weigh at least 5 lbs more at the doctors. Weight is NOT important...what is important is the trend. Stick to one scale, and forget the rest. If it's going down, great.

Also, doctor scales tend to not be very accurate as they are used so often and not calibrated enough.

I weigh myself every day. My weight at 7 am is going to be higher than my weight at 9 am if I don't eat or drink anything (difference of 1 lb usually). My weight after dinner can be as much as 4 lbs more than my morning weight. With clothes vs without clothes can be the difference of up to 2 lbs for me.

I would test the scale with a known weight (like a 50 lb free weight) and see if it needs to be recalibrated.

    A couple of things:
    1. To track weight, as others talked about, refer to the same scale and weigh yourself the same way each time just like it seems you were doing.
    2. The weight of your clothes could easily be a few pounds, PLUS depending on what you had eaten or drank in the couple of hours before could lead to the difference.
    3. Who knows if/when the Dr scale was last calibrated.

You can easily fluctuate up to 5+ pounds in a given day from AM to later. WHen you weigh in the AM, in the buff, you have no clothes and have been fasting for 8+ hours and very little, compared to later in the day, in your system.

You are losing weight, which is good, and the actual # doesnt matter as long as on the same scalre you are seeing that # go down.
