Michigan mom of 2 young kids

I am from Michigan and I have a 6 year old son and a 3 year old daughter and I was about 15 pounds overweight when I had my son and it took me a year to get back just to that weight after I had him. Then after I had my daughter I had about 20 pounds extra I have never been able to lose. So in total that is 35 but my goal is to lose 30 lbs. I have tried hard for a long time. We are organic, clean eaters and I have cut sugar out completely several times. Right now I am doing that again including honey and maple syrup and most breads. This time I have not been using goody lookalikes that use stevia as a substitute either. What I really need to do is count calories, which I know is a main feature of this site, but I did that a lot in my lower 20s and it took forever, and with young kids and VERY active lives I just don't have the time.
I also do Zumba for 1 hour twice a week, lift weights 2-3 times/week, and then change up the rest of what I do between dune hikes, exercise bike, and swimming. Sometimes the kids and I jog (younger kid in the jogger, older kid on his bike), do exercise videos on tv, etc.

I want to get healthy for the kids and myself, but my kids are a bigger motivator. Everyone in my family has diabetes and high blood pressure and my numbers are creeping up in both. Prediabetic and prehypertension ranges.

Welcome! MFP is a great tool for you weight loss journey. Once you start adding food to your diary they will pop up in recent entries and it should become easier to track what you're eating if you eat a lot of the same things. You're pretty active so that's good as well. I still have some weight to lose myself I have sent you a friend request so we can help support each other. Anyone feel free to add me!
