So confused!

The scales are saying I have put on weight, like 3kgs or something within the last few weeks,
Yet everyone is telling me that I look like I've lost more! I eat alot (was trying to maintain),
About 2000 kcal a day sometimes more and have only started exercising recently when I read what the scales said - but thats only about a 4km walk every few days.
Not much at all!

I am just incredibly confused why everyone is saying I have lost alot but I have actually put it on.
Anyone know why? Should I start measuring?

It would have been a good idea to start measuring when you started losing, but it's a bit too late for that so you can start now. It's a good idea to measure as the scale is not always accurate.

As for gaining, it is unlikely that you are gaining true fat, but just to be sure you should start weighing and measuring everything you eat. When people don't weigh food with a food scale, they are likely to underestimate their consumption by up to 400 calories a day. That can really add up.

Make sure you use it for everything! Also, just keep at it. The weight that showed up on your scale could likely be water weight.
