I think mine is like 44 or something. Ive lost .3 shy of 30 pounds in 78 days. Counting every thing I eat no matter what and little things like walking around the block with my 2yr old when the weather is good has helped. Ive alos looked on YouTube and found low impact cardio videos that I do when I can. Normally they are only 10 minute videos (fitness blender is the channel i end up on alot. I also randomly follow this program called bikini body mommy. I do the HIIT work outs normally. I have bad knees so sometimes the other things she does are to hard. But her program is free on youtube. She has a meal plan u have to pay for bur I dont do it. Little additions seem to make a difference. Even just pacing while on the phone or pacing your house when you have a minute can help.
Edit : mine is currently 42, I started at 48. I just went to look it up.0 -
I started out at 405 lbs and at 57 BMI.
You probably have metabolic syndrome as so many of us do.
This means you won't lose the weight you need to unless you limit (probably severely) your carb intake for the rest of your life.
I would recommend finding a true weight loss doctor-not just one who wants to cut you open and remove your guts.
With supplements and education you can convert to the lifestyle easier than you may think.
It is not just all about calories if your cells are no longer sensitive to insulin. It's the type of calories you eat.
Dietary fat is not your real enemy.
You may also want to try to eat your last meal no later than 6pm. That always jumps up my weight loss.
Do some reading on this board and elsewhere about metabolic syndrome, primal, paleo, etc.
Good luck!0 -
I started with a BMI of 44.6 at 5'2" . . . Current BMI is 28.5.
I just decided one day to join a gym and started from there, started with 15 min on the bike and 15 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical. Logged my food, and learned how to cut calories from what I normally ate and slowly started eating better - mostly by listening to my body. It is amazing where calories hide . . . sneaky things that they are. Most of the changes that I made in my eating where changes that I believe I can live with forever, I still have bacon and use butter and I have always had fried foods on average of twice a week - it's about learning portion control. A food scale will be your best investment, I would sometimes take photos of a serving to learn what a serving really is, I log everything that goes into my mouth. Log before or after but just make sure you log, if you think something wasn't worth the calories, that's a lesson learned, next time it will be easier to say no.
While I do workout just about everyday, getting a Fitbit really helped me to kick up my activities, in the beginning even little things like walking to another room to put something away, all that activity adds up. If finding time for an actual workout is difficult, you can always find a way to walk a little more. It will take time and even looking at a year or two (I gave myself 2 years) the reality is that in a years times you can be down by 20 or 30 pounds or up by 10 to 20 pounds, so be patient and take your time and measurements because like calories the scale is sneaky too and will refuse to move at times but those inches will tell the real deal.
This is a life changing process but one that is so worth it - I wish you all the best!1 -
Hi.
I am new and just learning about nutrition and love this site because it makes me feel more in control when I log my calorie intake and exercise per day.
I use to could exercise and drop any amount of pounds I wanted fairly easily but now that I am a middle aged woman, I HAVE to count my calories & walk.
I have to stay strictly within my 'plan' to have a 2 pound per week weight loss.
Last year, I tried walking and walking...and walking some more and didn't hardly lose a pound, because I was eating up any little thing I burned. So staying strictly within my allotted calories per day and some exercise is only thing I have had success with, at this age...
I am trying to scout the boards and soak up any information I can from other helpful users, I hope you will find good tips too.
I KNOW you can do this, you certainly aren't the only one who's had to hear the term Morbidly obese, YOU CAN DO THIS, one pound gone at a time..:)1
