POV please

Gang, I'm back and i'm determined to lose, I'm allowed to exercise now so i'm doing so a few times a week.. I only have a stone-ish to loose now..

Thoughts please - some days I just don't feel hungry! i'm trying to eat as near to a minimum of 1200 cals a day and sometimes i'm only 80 cals out but I was always brought up to only eat when I was hungry what do I do? - listen to my body or force feed? I don't want to screw up my weight loss and get demoralised like last time

Thanks

does MFP give you 1200 cals if you set it to lose 1lb per week? thats the maximum you should be aiming for - 0.5lb is probably better really.

also, you might want to look into strength/resistance training to 'tone up'.

Why 1200??? and Hunger is not always the best indicator of when to eat... Eating so low of a caloric intake over time and your body adjust to that intake and won't always tell you when your calorie and nutrient deficient......

Welcome back! One idea is to pre-log your planned food for the day and if you are coming in low swap out stuff for slightly higher calorie stuff or add in olive oil in your cooking or so on. When I first started I wasn't good at gauging how many calories my meals had and just opted for the lowest options. Now, since I have a better idea I may have an extra egg or some avocado for breakfast, a little more for lunch, etc. Waiting till the end of the day to see I needed more calories didn't work since I didn't feel like eating more then.

Edit: and what the others said. I didn't focus on your goal, although you said it.

Hunger is not always the best indicator of what the body needs.

    I am speaking from experience...

The human body is a wonderful tool that does stupid stuff...if you aren't eating enough it can and will release a hormone that will trigger the hunger signal to not go off...this is to avoid pain etc if you are in a situation of famine etc.

I took a peek at your diary and there are ways to get those "extra" calories in without "eating" more.

Such as full fat cheese instead of "Light"
    Adding avocado to salads
Chocolate and ice cream comes to mind

As well you are not logging consistently or accurately...so you could be (and probably are) eating more than you think.

If it's an occasional thing, then it's not a big deal. If it happens regularly, then you might have screwed up your ability to feel hungry by chronically undereating, in which case you will want to eat by the numbers, not by how you feel, making sure you get enough calories, even if feels uncomfortable.
