IS THIS A HEALTHY DINNER?

I ate slightly more than I planned to today, so I wanted to make dinner light. Let me know if this is healthy! An Omelette (2 Eggs) with fresh salsa and some chopped spinach, and a 100 calorie whole grain Thomas English muffin with some natural peanut butter? This totals out to around 300 calories! So what do you think? Please give me some suggestions of what you make for dinner if you went a little overboard! Thanks :)

Does this put you over your calories for the day?
    No?
    Then you're good.

I am surprised that totals to 300
  • sounds good to me :-) just keep it in you calorie range. If I get close, I tend to stick to a salad with a low cal dressing and a little bit of chicken, or a hard boiled egg for protein. Hope that helps!

Healthy is such a subjective word.

Also it should be applied to the diet as a whole, not to a single food/food group/meal.

Did you come in close to reasonable calorie amount for the day? Did you get your macros roughly balanced? Did you get some micronutrients? If so, then you are good. If not, try to get a little better tomorrow...

ditto. Let's say 140 for eggs, 100 for muffin. That doesn't leave a lot for peanut butter and spinach, though certainly the peanut butter is more likely to be an issue.

I am using have a tablespoon of Jif natural(48 cals), and spinach is 7 calories

Did you read that of the side of the container because I am incredibly dubious.

There will be next to no calories in a small amount of spinach, a light spread of peanut butter: 60 calories seems reasonable? I don't eat peanut butter)

Anyway, yes 'heathy' is subjective - but this seems a good light meal to me OP.

*shrug* if you say so. It's not my total, so w/e.

Yes it sounds perfectly healthy if it fits in your day. If I'm looking for a light dinner, some broiled salmon and roasted root vegetables is usually tasty.

Jif natural is 190 cal per 2 tbsp. So 1 tbsp is 95 calories, not 48.

Would you need a whole tablespoon for just one muffin?

You could just use half a table spoon, spread it bit more thinly, and then it would fit within your 300 calorie calculation for the meal.

Or go over by 48 calories and consider yourself close enough for the day?

And that's if you weigh it. If you're really putting a tablespoon on it, it's probably closer to 130...

WOW, all that for 300 calories sounds GREAT! It does seem like a lot for just 300 calories but you know what you're doing, you can count..:)

I don't really know what 'healthy' means but your menu sounds good to me. I hope you get lots of helpful answers.

This is healthy. When I feel like I didn't eat well throughout the day or ate too much what I do for dinner is find a meal that is little to no carb, more importantly, no sugar, but high protein. Eggs and salsa was a good choice.

"Control" and "+" together in Windows.

"Command" and "+" on an Apple.

    You are welcome!
