You want to make sure youre burning more calories than you are eating. Also be sure to do circuit training along with lifting weights. I would suggest 3 days 40 + cardio and then 3 days lifting. Be sure to hit the abs hard - lower abs are the hardest so be patient. Nutrition is most important! Be patient - abs come fast but chiseling down the belly fat area is work! :)

At 19 you picked a good age to focus on it. Odds of you developing a well defined midsection is much higher at your age. I'm 43 and I have the same goal. I'm getting there but I have a way to go yet. If I can do it, then you definitely can do it.

A word of advice. When I was younger I spent years working out without the proper knowledge. There were quite few things I did wrong due to not knowing better. Don't make the same mistakes and try to learn as much as you can. And don't ever fall into the trap of thinking you know what you are doing, there is always more to learn.

I'm still learning and I still find out things I believed were true are wrong or misguided.

Abs are made at the table. Everybody has abs, but most of us bury them under an inch of blubber. 2 things to get a 6 pack.

1 - do some ab exercise, harden them muskles up.

2 - and more important,,, get to <12% bodyfat. Lean lean lean,,, that's where it's at.
  • Awesome! Good Luck!

ahhhhhh, to be 19 again, abs are so much easier when you're in your teens and 20's.

what takes 2 to 3 hours a day now takes 45 minutes a day at 19.
  • Thx for the insight guys definetly looking to make this happen heres to an amazing 2011 for everyone!
  • Welcome! Yes, so do I. Its the only part of me that isnt lean and needs extra work, so i'm hitting that hard too. I turn 40 in a couple weeks and spent half of that without proper diet/excercise so its taking a while. U r light years ahead already by working on it at your age - keep up the great work!
