Sweet potato calorie and sugar fluctuation?

Hi, can someone please explain why both the calorie and sugar amounts massively fluctuate in sweet potatoes dependant upon where they are bought ? (difference of 13g of sugar between my top choices per 100g)

Is it a different brand that each supermarket sells or something?

All values per 100g

Tesco - Sweet Potatoes : 98 calories 6g sugar
Sainsbury's - Sweet Potatoes 86 calories 4g sugar
Sainsbury - Sweet Potato (Loose) 96 calories 1g sugar
Asda - Sweet Potatoes (Ovenbaked) 114 calories 14g sugar

What is the serving size? If it's just "one sweet potato" then that's not very exact. as sizes differ wildly. I'm betting that the higher calorie/sugar measurements were taken with a larger portion size. And sugars probably differ according to the specific strain of sweet potato each store offers. Some types are sweeter than others.

I'm not sure but I suspect that some may be for the raw amount and some for the baked amount. Sweet potato loses some mass in the baking process so that would make the numbers different. I'm not sure what the correct amount is but those variations actually aren't that extreme when compared to many other foods in the database.

Try that site. It uses info from the USDA and is very accurate.
