Let me preface by saying I also started at 345lbs. We look to have a similar body type as well.
I noticed a difference fairly rapidly, within the first 20lbs. By the time I hit 300ish, I was feeling pretty damn good.
I still struggle with looking at my before pic and have never posted it, but hell, why not?
This is when I was around 300ish. I've gained some back from dealing with personal issues and have also been strength training since.

I hear it's around 10% body fat loss. But it can be more discouraging for people who have more to lose because it's harder to see changes. 10% is 30 lbs and even then it's not always noticeable to everyone. A lot of people don't notice because in their mind they still see a heavy person even though that person is getting smaller and smaller (maybe the change is too slow for some people to notice). Sometimes it takes a while for others to notice or even yourself to notice.
This one friend of mine lost 50 pounds. She looked great (she's still losing more, and looks even better now) and I did notice then, but I also hadn't seen her in several months. If I saw her every day or even once a week I'm not sure the changes would have been as noticeable.
I would focus on:
1. pounds lost. losing 30 lbs isn't easy, so good job!
2. inches lost. even if the scale stays the same or even goes up slightly, you will lose inches from working out as your fat turns into muscle.
Remember, slow and steady wins the race. It's much more difficult to lose a pound (3,500 calorie deficit) than to gain a pound (eating 3,500 calories can sometimes happen in a single meal at some restaurants). Every pound lost is a job well done... just make sure you find other ways to celebrate besides food or you'll gain it back.0 -

I think you will notice more with smaller changes in weight if you are also lifting. I did not see you mention that in any of your post. I personally would recommend that if you already are not. Even lifting at a calorie deficit will be helpful as it will help retain muscle as you lose weight and when you drop BF it will help you look more defined.

I've been the same way, I don't notice it, but people I've not seen in awhile are blown away by how much I've lost and at how different I look. I know I've dropped pants sizes and such, but I still feel like the same big guy. I do feel a little better and my knees don't hurt as bad as before though.
With the weight training though I have noticed my strength increasing and slowly gaining some muscle size as the fat slowly shrinks away. I still don't think it looks all that impressive, but it's a start.0 -

Noticed a change after only 25 lbs or so, haven't really noticed much of a change since I got under 270 though.0
