Did you come from WW or another diet program that tells people veggie calories are "free"?

It's smart to incorporate lots of veggies in your diet for optimal health and because they're relatively low-calorie and can be pretty filling, but they do have calories.

Yep, they definitely have calories, and you can look them up on mfp like anything else. But, in their raw state, the calories are pretty low for their volume, so you can eat a lot more zucchini than pasta for the same number of calories. (Or eat the same volume, and fewer calories.) If you grab a handful of plain, raw broccoli as a snack, it's going to be a small percentage of your daily calories, but my opinion is that it's still important to track those few calories. Best not to get into the habit of leaving things out.

Thanks for your replies. Yes I did WW a long time ago but I am just so hungry at night with no calories left and water wasn't cutting it.

Everything has calories, except for plain water.

The calories in most veg is really low, though, so they're a good choice if you need to munch on something. Watch out for starchier veg like potatoes, sweetcorn, sweet potatoes.

What is your calorie goal set to? If you are hungry and feeling deprived then it may be too low for you.

Also, make sure you are getting enough fat and protein in your diet - these are more satiating than just snacking on vegetables which will likely still leave you feeling hungry.

I ONLY lose weight if I am starving, the idea that being really hungry is bad is just false in my situation :/

Find a ten minute work out video, do it, and then enjoy your snack. I have a favorite ten minute cardio kickboxing routine from spark people. Is it tough to exercise when you really just crave sleep? Sure! But you'll get your bedtime snack, and you can have it with zero guilt this way.

How much protein, fat, and fiber are you eating? These can help with satiety. Do you exercise, which will earn you more calories to eat?

so broc, mushrooms, onion, and peppers for dinner tonight...113 calories; I think combined it was around 2 cups. So, yes, they have calories. I made a stir fry, if you'd like some....stop over; the drive thru closes at 11 tonight.
