Anyone hike the JMT? How was your experience? What would you recommend to get in shape to hoof the trail?

I used to live out that way and always wanted to do it. When I did hikes in Arizona, I would google trail reports/reviews to get a fewl for if it is novice friendly or not. Hope this helps
