Hi, I'm looking for people who are 50 or older and have 100 lbs or more to lose. Being at this stage of life means we are seasoned dieters, but fail to keep it off. We are at a point when we need to take it off and keep it off. For me, that means staying focused and in contact with a support group. Looking for folks who want to encourage each other, but also keep each other accountable. Also would like to share about the feelings / concerns that come up when large amounts of weight are lost in an older body, where the skin does not bounce back.

Well I sure fir in your catagory!! I am 57 and need to lose at least 125lbs. It is so difficult and you are right if I did succeed don't know what would happen to all that excess skin.......I sure couldn't afford the surgery to get rid of it.

    I am right there also!
  • I am 58 yrs old, and have lost 60 pounds in the last year.
Since it took a year to lose the 60 pounds, my skin has not too much of a problem, as it has had time to draw up.
I still need to lose about 100 pounds. As much as I would like to lose it quickly, I am glad it has been slow because of the skin, and because I am making permanent changes in my life! Change takes time. I do not want to lose all of this to gain it back.
I would love to be your pal.
  • If you would like to be friends, add me. For me, I have lost 100 lbs 3x in the past, so my issues are probably more dramatic than others. I need to lose a total of about 140 lbs.. but I know that losing is worth it. I felt so good when I had lost the last time in 2009. I wrote in my profile that it was 08, but I started in Jan 08 and got off my program around Sept. So in the last 15 months I have regained abt 80 of the 110 I lost. This is why.. I want to DO it and KEEP it off this time. One Step and One pound at a time.
  • Margot50 and lizzebella53 - if you guys want to be friends with me on this journey, please add me as a friend. I want to stay active in this community. Leastwood - is doing what we want to do - she has lost 60 over the past year and is going strong. I for one need all the inspiration and sound thinking I can get. Thanks for posting. Some times when your new to a place like this, it can feel lonely even though you are surronded by folks.
  • Good morning everyone,
I read you posts here, I am in the same boat. I am going to lose 80 lbs. I am als taking it off slow. Would like to invite anyone to add me and I will do the same. Lets do this together. I started this journey the end of May, I am 59 until the 24th of this month. I made my first goal of losing 30 lbs by the end of this month. I am not working on the next 30, which will bring me back in to the 60's...hey what the heck, I liked the 60's growing up, so it works for me. LOL....
