I'm 5'4", 228 lbs. I recently changed up my workout routine completely. All I did was workout videos, however I never really pushed it, or i'd quit early. In a couple of weeks I went from 10lbs dumbbells for all my exercises to 25-40 lbs dumbbells depending on the exercise. I do weights 5 times a week, Total body, arms and back, tatal body, legs and core, total body. On the days I do total body I do the C25K program after weight training. Usually goes for 45 mins of weights and the 30 mins of cardio. Not really sure if it's working yet. I took down all my measurements. Hopefully in another 2 weeks times i'll see some changes for the better.
What is your routine like? How well is it working for you?

when you say total body- are you talking about a specific work out
or are you saying
M- total body
T- arms
W- total body
R- legs
F- total body
???
Honestly if you are new to the game and want to weight train- I would highly recommend getting on a proven strength training program.
Cardio and strength training are both important aspects to a balanced fitness plan. How much you shift one way or the other will depend solely on 2 things. What you love to do and what your goals are.
If you're only goal is weight loss- dial in the diet first. What (or rather how much) you put in your mouth is 80% of weight loss- and that is true for someone hundreds of pounds over weight as it is for someone looking to drop 5 pounds to win the Arnold Classic.
Then balance your strength and cardiovascular training out- these are for your overall "wellness" and health- not for weight loss. So find something you like- a solid program to work with and stick with it- results will come if you stick with it- if after several months- yes months- not weeks- you are not seeing any changes- clothing- the tape measure- energy- attitude- weight- then re-evaluate and trouble shoot.
2 weeks is really nothing though- especially since weight loss is not linear (I was stuck at a certain weigh for 3 weeks- I just dropped 4 pounds this week and I fully expect to be this weigh for the next 2-3 weeks till I drop again.)
give it time- you can do it!!!0 -
Both. I do Chiseled from live exercise.com and I run. Love both. You'll be amazed at how fast the weight comes off when you do both properly. Be fast and strong is my motto.0

I do the workouts in the mens health big book of exercises because that is what my BF does, and we work out together.
3 days a week total body and 1 day a week of each arms/back and legs/core.
When I said 2 weeks from now I will measure myself, I also said earlier that a couple of weeks has also passed. I don't weight myself weekly, I do it monthly. Planning on measuring monthly.
I know i'm not going to see a dramatic change in a month. And my diet is basically the paleo diet. Grains and dairy have a bad effect on me. The last time lost a large amount of weight I did strictly cardio. So yes, i'm new to the weight training. tips are great if you have more?0
