    Well..maybe not World of Warcraft...perhaps slightly less fantasy looking? lol. I would love a straight definition of steam punk. It looks pretty unique. Almost like renaissance dress up.

    I for one absolutely love your cluelessness on this.

    I thought steampunk was like the HOT BIG CRAZE around say 2006...seriously surprised at how popular it has become recently. I don't get the appeal, personally....never have.

    A friend of mine is a fantasy writer who goes to all of the conventions and stuff in her steampunk gear and she pulls it off.

    I do think the styles are stunningly beautiful, but since they aren't appropriate for work or working around the house/yard, it's not surprising to me that many adults aren't familiar with the style. I hardly think it means they're dense. :-| I'm not often in situations where unique styles of dress are worn (though I wish I was!) Yes, my life is boring.

    It looks a little 'Steam punk waitress' instead of 'steam punk adventurer' without all the fun odds and ends that went with it I'm afraid. I'm hoping to hit up some cons this year/next year and refine the look a bit

    I figure some of the costumes look very "World of Warcraft" or "Diablo" dress up.

    No, it's more like... industrial Victorian.

    The way somebody explained it to me was like this:

    It's the way people in the Victorian era imagined the future.
