I have liked steampunk for a long time. I want to put together an outfit but I want to piece one together and make the accessories instead of buying it online or wherever. So far I have the boots...

I would have been more impressed if you had replied with the line from The Highlanders - "That's what I said".

...Okay, so victorian. What do the goggles have to do with the style?

No. Think 1800's, mechanical style. Gears, metals, etc...

The Will Smith movie Wild Wild west was kind of Steampunk...

Going to an anime convention next weekend and they are partnered up with a steampunk convention. I'll take lots of pictures and report back.

I'm going to get an outfit together by next year but I've been too busy getting my cosplay ready this year to attempt a steampunk outfit. Steampunk fashion is beautiful on women and soo handsome on men.

    Steampunk stroomtrooper anyone?

They had to use steam because electricity hadn't been invented by Thomas Jefferson

    Benjamin Franklin.

    Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Though, Thomas Edison invented the light bulb.

    That was the Wrigley brothers...

    Then who invented gum?

    Thomas Riddle.

Yep. Voldemort totally invented gum. He was such an inspiration to the Weasley brothers and their Fever Fudge and Nosebleed Nougat.
