Feel like im not getting anywhere with weight loss

I've been eating really healthy lately and I've stopped binging and my exercise has improved a lot! I used to binge eat when I was feeling low and it prevented me from loosing weight. I've stopped binging for a few weeks and am being healthier. I don't do restrictive diets as from experience they lead to failure. I want a lifestyle change I can keep up with, if it be mainting 2000 calories a day so be it. My cravings for junk food have gone and i feel so much healthier.

I've lost a few pounds on the scales; a few says ago I was 12st 5lb, but today I'm 12st 7lb and I haven't been binging. I've been stressed with exams. Yesterday I ate around 1900 calories because it was a long day studying and I had my exam in the evening. My measurements havent changed at all; in fact my hips have gone from 42 inches to 42.5!! im puzzled. i did use a different tape measure though. My body fat %age is still high even though my fitness levels have improved dramatically. My body fat percentage is 32% and the normal range is apparantly 20-29%. After my workout my body fat %age went down to 30.5%. My bra feels a bit looser and some of my leggings but that's about it. Usually I don't tend to loose weight off my boobs.

I feel frustrated that I'm not making much progress. My period could be due soon, but that's the only reasons I can think of. How long did it take for you to notice results? I don't want to give up because since I've stopped bingeing I feel happier and plus I've replaced binges with eating a bowl of Hartley's low fat jelly and there are under 40 calories in a bowl! best thing ever!

It is going to take time for your body to adjust to your routine. If you have upped your exercise a lot then you are probably have some water rention which is going to effect measurements and weight changes. I would say be patient. Keep doing what you are doing for a while (like 3-4 weeks or so) and if nothing is changing then start adjusting things. Make sure you are weighing all of your food and not just guessing. Your diary isn't open so I don't know what you are eating or what your calorie goals are. What did you set your weight loss goal to? 2lb/week may be a bit aggressive if it's that. Maybe shoot for 1.5 - 1 lb a week. Again these are just suggestions since I can't see your diary. Hopefully it helps.

When I first started my weightloss journey I wasn't seeing results right away. But, you have to stick through it and you will soon see progress. I have lost 53lbs since January so it can definitely happen for you. It's been difficult but it gets easier with time. The first two months I didn't lose much at all and wanted to give up. But, I told myself this was a lifestyle change and stuck to my guns. I still have a ways to go but I have made some progress. So my advice to you is to continue to eat healthy, weigh your food (many of us over eat, you would be surprise how small 3 ounces of chicken is), execise, rest and drink plenty of fluids. It will all come in time. Try not to weigh yourself so much, if you can resist. The scale drives me insane, so I only weigh once a month and that's when I see progress. Good Luck and remember it's a journey not a race!

Give it more time. Hang in there. This process takes a long time. And kudos on eating enough calories. Most people jump into weight loss balls to the wall and restrict too many calories.

Your weight and measurements can go up when you retain water or it's close to that TOM, which is probably the case here. Don't worry it shouldn't stick around for long. However it should be noted that your BF% probably isn't correct. Assuming you're using scales of some sort to measure it and not callipers, any fluctuation in water retention will cause a change in the number. It's totally normal to have fluctuations in your weight (hence after a workout, you've sweated out water and it says you've lost bf), don't sweat it. If you see a steady increase, over a period of weeks, then it's time to reevaluate.

Thanks guys, these comments have made me feel a lot better. I definitely won't give up. I am eating sensibly and not eating too much. I just stop if I feel too full. I don't like obsessing over calories and weighing food. As long as I don't binge eat and eat normal portions, I should be ok. By the way how do you use the weight tracker thing? Do you have to fill in the food and exercise diary every single day? Can you alter it when you've actually lost weight or does the tracker thing assume you've lost weight. I don't like the tracker device as everyone's body is different and looses weight at a different rate; I don't think it's the typical 3500cal= 1 pound thing.
