Strength Training Plan while Running

I'm thinking about changing away from my StrongLifts routine to focus on a strength training plan more focused on supporting my running goals (ultimately leading up to my first marathon in October). I am torn between doing a running/strength plan that support each other and doing a running plan and a separate strength training plan (which may be more influenced by goals not specifically related to running like muscle building).

Do people have thoughts or suggestions for this? Or any feedback from their experiences?

I found strength training three days a week was impacting my running, and I wasn't getting the running time I wanted, and my lower body was sluggish sometime. I switched to a 2 day week program based on Wendler's 5/3/1, and an article he wrote showing how to make it two days a week. I just started, but I think my legs will feel fresher, and I can train my runs harder. I'm also doing yoga on my run days. So, I'm not specifically doing strength training to improve my running, but I did modify it so that running can be my emphasis right now. I will also disclose, that I mostly run 5ks, and have done 1 10k, with plans to do another this summer. Nowhere near marathon training.

Well, do you want to be strong, or do you want to be a marathoner?

Linear progression is really taxing on the body.
