Any luck kicking the sugary drink habit?

So I've pretty much cut out sodas. Maybe like once a week if that, but I still drink stuff like bottled teas or juice. I know they are better than coke, but still have a crap ton of sugar. I have worked myself down to usually only drinking a glass or so with a meal so it isn't as bad as it used to be. Some days are worse than others. I was just wondering how you guys were able to cut out your sugar filled drink? I don't have a problem drinking water, but I just prefer a tea or something with dinner and I can't stand water with lemon or orange in it =p. Anyhow just wondering what you wall did that worked and what not.

I always slide back to them for a few weeks at a time in between "quitting".0

I prefer to eat my calories then drink them. Drink more water, eat more food. Yummy.
You could "sweeten" water with kool aid mix, or the other calorie free mixes, not that they're much better for your cells in the end, but at least they are calorie free.
think of how many calories a year saved, if you cut out caloried drinks.0 -
Try crystal light or no sugar drink mixes like that. Trust me you wont miss the sweetness!0

I use Mio like flavorings for my water. I love water but we recently moved and the tap water here tastes really bad. Mio maskes that and gives it a bit of sweetness when I want something sweet.
I do force my self to drink plain water. My flavored water is my treat for getting that stuff down.0 -
When I first cut out juice back in high school I drank Crystal Light like it was going out of style. Now I love plain water more than anything else.
I DO indulge in a sugar free Monster during my shifts at work, but that's about it.0 -
I just stopped it all at once. Of course I had to as I'm diabetic, but for me, that method worked. You could try some MIO or something. Sometimes I'll add some strawberry MIO and a bit of lemon juice to my water to make a sugar-free strawberry lemonade. I like unsweetened iced tea, so sometimes I'll have some of that. You could also try adding a splash of juice to some seltzer/carbonated water. I hear some people really take to that. And really, there is diet soda if you need that caffeine fix.
You could try infusing some fruit in your water other than lemon/lime. They make some nice bottles with special fruit holders on the inside so that you aren't sipping on fruit seeds and pulp all day.
Just try a few new things. And really, a sugary soda isn't going to hurt you (barring medical conditions) if accounted for in your daily logging. Just plan for it if you really want it!0
