Midnight Binge Eater

So, I am 5'4" and weigh 138 lbs. I am getting married in 2 months (from today) and want to tone a bit. I work out at least 5 days a week and do both cardio and weight training. My biggest downfall is my binge eating at night. I work from 2PM until 10PM. I usually eat dinner at work between 8 and 9. I always bring a greek yogurt or Special K fruit crisps or some fruit for dessert. However, when I get home at about 11, I eat again! I can eat up to like 1000 calories when I get home!! I know, it's horrible!! Whether it be half a pizza or a bowl of ice cream.
My fiancee is not very health conscience and will eat a whole box of mac n cheese, BK, Taco Bell, or any other junk he can find at 2 AM. I think because he is eating and offering it, I eat it. I don't even keep a lot of this stuff in the house. The ice cream (Breyers all natural), I do. But, for the most part, I do the shoping by myself and I refuse to buy him all this processed crap and junk. I feel if he has to get up and get it himself (going to the store) he is less likely to eat it.
So, last night I went home, and as much as I wanted a bowl of ice cream or a grilled cheese, I snacked on an apple with peanut butter. I felt good and slept like a baby. Hopefully I can keeop this up!! Any other night snackers out there? Any advice on curbing the cravings?

I am a night snacker too!! This has been my BIGGEST challenge. I have a similar work schedule to you--I go in around 4 or 5pm each day and get out at 10pm. Since joining MFP and starting a workout program, I have found that if I work out at night (usually by way of the XBOX Kinect and Dance Central/Zumba games), I don't want to snack because I remember how much effort I just put into my workout. Sometimes, I burn so many calories, that my food diary allots me an extra 200-400, so I can "earn" a snack, which is awesome too! So far, it's been 2 weeks since I've done my crazy snacking and I feel great!0

Eat Breakfast Like a King
Eat Lunch like a Prince
Eat dinner like a first year college student!!
First, replace the ice cream with EAS Premium protein powder, get that and some frozen fruit. Put two scoops of EAS and a cup of frozen fruit in a blender (or use a stick blender) and cover with soy milk. Blend til creamy. It's better for you than ice cream, has more protein and will help you satisfy your bing craving for something cold and sweat. IF you want to make it sweater use Organic Blue Agave sweetener, it's a low glycemic sweetener that won't spike your blood sugar levels. It's a filling and nutritional snack, giving your body the vitamins it needs along with fat burning protein!0 -
I joined a gym to keep from snacking. I have been doing Turbo Jam at home obviously for the past 4 years but now that I have 8 lbs to lose I joined a gym just so I wouldn’t sit at home and snack in the evenings.
If you are home my best suggestion is to not leave the upper level of your house. Being on the computer/internet or watching tv UPSTAIRS makes you too lazy to go downstairs in the kitchen. If you watch tv in the tv room right off the kitchen that’s going to fail big time!0 -
Hunny I was in the same boat! My husband used to eat what I referred to as the 4th Meal and it was awful! I wouldn't really partake all the time of what he was eating, but if his mouth was going, my mouth was usually going too. I finally made the choice to stop eating after dinner. It was incredibly hard. But I was not loosing weight, nothing was happening. Once I did this, the weight fell off, I was able to eat breakfast in the morning and feel much better all day long. Now I eat a snack every now and again in the evening like an orange, carrots and ranch, a few nuts...and my husband has joined me! Its been a journey but it really helped when he started doing the same thing! )0

Well, sorry if this doesn't come out right- new to MFP. I do turbo jam at my gym but I don't like to go upstairs until ready for bed b/c we watch our shows on the DVR downstairs. And yes, you guessed it, by the kitchen!!0

A lot of people advise not eating late at night, but I loves me my late night snacks. I eat slightly smaller meals during the day and save calories for a snack at night. I've found that I'm going to snack whether I have the calories or not, so it just makes sense to budget for them... plus if I know I'm allowed a snack, I don't tend to throw caution to the wind and go into a full binge.0
