Sore muscles. help!

I did my first spinning class on Monday. It is now Thursday, my thighs have been in extreme pain since Tuesday. I stretched after the class and everyday since. I have been using a foam roller, icing, and stretching. I have finally gotten some relief this morning. I want to get back to the gym but don't want to make the soreness in my thighs worse. What are some things I can do besides walking to help the muscles not hurt so much?

Your muscle's don't lie, I think you hit the ground running a little too hard. Give your muscles a chance to heal and give it another go. remember you don't have to go balls to the wall with execising, ease into it.

Coming from personal experience, last week i was hitting the elliptical a little too hard and my legs were tired and sore for 4 days. I was over-doing it and now I'm taking it a little easier.

You are doing everything you can at this point. just keep it up and don't let a little soreness keep you from the gym. just take it a little easier and remember, your muscles are working!!!!

Ive just started the 60 Insanity Workout

Hurt by the end of day one, am currently on day 5 and the pain only started easing yesterday.

    I received the folowing advice:

Magnesium Oil rubbed into your muscles (its not an actual oil, but it is what its called)
and Magnesium Salt or Epsom Bath Salts and have a hot bath

I used both of these the night before last and my pains almost halved... Hope this helps

Try doing some light and gentle effort workouts (such as easy cycling) for a short period of time in addition to what you are doing. It should help to "flush" the lactic acid build up. It may hurt at first, but the pain will subside and should aid in recovery (Keep it at a relatively easy effort though.).

This issue should arise less often over the long term, provided you stick with it (and ease off the intensity a touch.).

Lots of water, walking and a warm bath with Epsom Salt (I like Dr. Teal's Therapy & Relief)

I remember the morning after my first ever bootcamp, I was in agony (walking down the stairs backwards because I couldn't manage them any other way, having to use the disabled toilet for about a week, got stuck in the bath that night took 40min to get out of the bath etc), I swore I wasn't going back for a week to allow my muscles to recover, got kind of encouraged (bullied) into going back after 1 day rest, couldn't do as much but actually felt much better the next day because I had forced my muscles to work, was still sore but could certainly move about a bit easier and could actually walk (almost) down the stairs normally.

Do something, just don't go all out at it, would like to say it gets better, but if it ain't hurtin, it ain't workin!!!!
