  • Thanks everyone , you all seem to be telling me the same thing that I am not being accurate enough , I use the MFP guide to check what the calories are so when I made a ham and chesse panini I looked on the guide for a home made ham and cheese panini and used that . But is looks like you are all telling me to weigh my cheese, ham, bread separately and then count calories is that right .

Is there a guide somewhere that says 2oz of chesse is however many calories etc

thanks again for all helping I am trying hard to make this happen but realizing what a novice I am al all this , my son has just told me that running alone won't do it I need to weight train too, it seems everyone knows more than me

Remember that when you are choosing food from the MFP database, many of these have been entered in by other members. If they are not by weight, don't choose them. Use your own weight and food labels to enter the food yourself, so you know the calorie count is accurate. This is tedious at first, but you will eventually have a list of your own foods to choose from and you can be confident that is is accurate and entered by weight.

    Yes, that's right.

Most things will include nutrition info right on the package. For other things such as bulk foods, produce, and meat try http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list

There's a learning curve, but it's essential that you log accurately.

    It's a learning process. You'll get there.

2oz of cheese is going to vary in calories because not all cheeses have the same calorie count. calories for 2oz of feta is going to be different from 2 oz of gouda. get in the habit of reading food labels. if the food label includes cups AND grams go with grams (for weighing) don't get out a measuring cup. you'll get the hang of it in no time i promise. :)

trial and error that's how we all learn. will you drop weight with just running and monitoring your food yes will weight training add to it yes as well. weight training will also help tone/tighten.

Don't guess weigh everything separately that goes into your mouth. Digital scales are a must.
    Example panini
    Weigh or scan panini
Weigh and log ham, cheese, condiments (this is a biggie they add up).
Everything you put on it log itIt's tedious but if you want to lose the weight it is the way to go. Also if you want to to tone up weightlifting is the key, although make sure you take body measurements as the scales tend to go up as body changes, or does for me anyway.

    Good luck.

Wow, I guess I see how this works now. My first and probably last post on here. Sezxy Stef you are a bit abrasive. I thought this would be a friendly place to share. Guess not. Good luck to you all.

I don't think anyone means any harm that are just offering me advice , and to be honest I need some knocking into shape , my husband is always saying I look fine just the way I am which is great but not very motivating I appreciate everyones honestly thats what I asked for ,
  • One of the posts says you guys were tough on me but i am fine with that , I need your honest advice so keep it coming and I will get there , there is no point asking for help and then not liking what you all say and as you all more or less said the same thing I am learning how to proceed
    thanks

You can do it! It took 3-4 weeks for me to start losing anything, but I have now lost 7 pounds. Am 5 foot nothing, 52 and eating about 1500 calories a day; it's taken patience, persistence and some very boring logging. Good logging makes a difference - just start weighing stuff and you'll be amazed at what's really going in.

    I have 2 suggestions:

1st: do everything others have said about weighing food..

2nd: remember that muscle weighs more than fat. You just did a couch to 5k app and theres no way you did not gain muscle in the process!

nope not running and not eating at a deficit. Running is great but not at building muscle

If you want to look more "toned," you need to start lifting heavy weights. Running by itself will not get you the body that you want.
  • Ok maybe things have started moving , lost 2lbs , got to start somewhere !
