First Off..
Im a 31y/o Male. Currently weigh 302 (Down from 374..Yeah!!!). Im 6' 1'' and consider myself pretty active (7days/week gym).
Im currently eating 1800-2000 Calories/day, and I usually burn around 1000-1200 calories in the gym each day.
Example:
At the end of the day I've logged 1800 calories. I have also logged -1000 calories of cardio for a net of 800. Does that mean I still need to eat more food to bring my net back up? I always thought that you should burn what you eat. The reason I'm asking is I've hit another plateau and I'm wondering if I need to eat more to make up for what I burned in the gym.
Also, I almost never log my exercise burned in the app. Don't know why, but when I do and it shows net 800 calories, it doesn't give me the eat more than 1200 calories per day message because i actually logged 1800 in consumed calories.
Hope this makes sense lol...

I have always ate back half of my calories! I tried both ways and with not eating back any, I froze on the weight loss scale. When I ate back all my exercise calories I froze or gained on the scale (eeek!)
So I eat half back (for you that would be about 500 calories) . You have time to try it for a week or two and see how your body does. If you are currently losing, then why change? If you are not losing then try eating half back and see what happens. Hope this helps.0 -
You need to be consuming many more calories if you're burning that much in the gym. Your net calories should be at least 1600, as far as I've experienced (6'2", 216 pounds). You've hit a plateau because your body isn't getting enough to burn more fat. You shouldn't burn everything you eat. Your body burns 2000+ calories a day just by being alive. Eat more!0

1000-1200 sounds like an inflated number. Be careful with what the machines tell you that you are burning as they are not very accurate. If you were truly eating 1800-2000 calories per day, with the stats you provided you would be losing weight.
I left out that I had gastric bypass surgury in 2007. Then I weighed 600 lbs.
Your TDEE is:
3922
Calories/Day0 -
Before the swarms of people come in here telling you to eat more or yelling starvation mode, really think about it. You are 302 lbs, the likelihood that your problem is not enough calories as opposed to improper logging is highly unlikely. Apply logic to this situation, not what someone tells you because they heard about it on TV or someone told them.
Occam's Razor is sharp with this one. I absolutely agree with this.
Weighing food seems to be far more accurate than using measuring cups. If you're not already using a scale, this might help (and surprise) you a lot.0
