Waiting for Results

Hi fellow fitnesspal users!
I have recently started using this and really like its usability. I find the "Have another day like today and you'll be "weight" in 5 weeks!" really hugely motivational.
I started counting 5 days ago and on all but one day have stayed within my 1500 allocated calories (based on wishing to lose 2lbs a week for a not too active person). Just wandering how long it will take before I see my efforts and commitment reflected on my scales. As it stands it looks as though I have actually gained 2lb! This does worry me but dont aim to panic too much until I am 2 weeks in.
Any tips and advice would be much apprecated
Regards
Paula

First of all, are you weighing all solids and measuring all liquids that you eat and drink? Do you exercise as well?
I saw results very quickly but I have also read that men often see better instant results than women, but have no perspective view for that.
We vary day by day weight wise so I find weighing at the same time once weekly is best for me.
If you are accurate with your calorie logging then you should see results fairly soon
ETA It will also help if you make your diary public while asking this question (you can always make it private again later)0 -
Weigh and measure everything - log accurately, try and move a bit more if you can and it will come off.
Some people lose loads at first (especially if they have a lot to lose) but others (I was one) took a couple of weeks to get in the groove.
Ignore daily fluctuations - just follow your weekly trend. Because the daily fluctuations drove me mad I try really hard to just weigh once a week (I'd actually like to do it fortnightly but am not strong willed enough!) - always weigh in the same place, at the same time and on the same scales.
I also find it helpful to add friends who have open food diaries so I can pick up nice menu ideas. Because I live in the UK most of my friends are there as it makes comparing products easier - and we are awake at the same time!
Good luck with your new lifestyle - enjoy healthier eating and living

I logged for a month before I lost anything, and I started out 50 lbs overweight. I lost weight for about 2-3 months after the initial month, and I have "gained" on the scale in the past month-2 months. Weight doesn't come off uniform, even if you're weighing and measuring your food and logging accurately. Just be patient and be consistent, learn new healthy habits and over the course of a year or two (or three or four) you'll reach your goal.0

Actually, I personally don't like that feature. That projection number swings wildly from one day to the next and is not realistic one way or the other based on my experience.
To each their own though ;-)0 -
Hi there,
Thank you for your response. I have been logging, measuring and weighing everything. I am on a big serious mission here... this weight has outstayed its welcome! lol
I have just made my diary public and congrats to you on your loss too! All so motivating.0 -
Maybe it will just take me a little while to see the benefits then! I have checked my BMR and it is higher than the allocated calories so it certainly should work. Am logging and measuring everything and when on such a mission and donning a halo you want to see that confirmed on scales. So frustrating when you are working so so hard at it. But the scales wont beat me... I am more determined than ever... this weight has to go!
I am in the UK too and would love some pals on here!. If you're up for that that would be great!0 -
oh no... I have pinned my hopes on being 10 lbs down by the 2nd week in June based on that! lol0

Thank you very much.. at the moment I am weighing every morning full of expectation and feeling sorely disappointed.0
